What has been your favorite part of Houston so far? Why? Houston’s diversity shows up in everything, especially food and culture, and I never run out of something new to try. I also love the arts scene: Whether it’s stand-up comedy or live music, artists consistently make Houston a must-stop. This city has a way of turning a random weeknight into a memorable experience.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the one key part of the Rice Jones MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? The rigor of the core curriculum. I’d heard from alumni that Rice Business would challenge how I think and communicate — not just what I know — and that mattered to me. I wanted a program that would stretch me beyond my comfort zone and help me to be sharper under pressure.

What course, club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Rice Jones? One of my favorite activities so far has been a Rice alumni wine event. I got to experience great conversation, rare wines, and meaningful connections with people who have been in my MBA shoes. It was motivating and refreshing to see how far their Rice MBAs have taken them.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: My proudest accomplishment has been taking a sabbatical while still delivering in my consulting career. I spent nearly two years abroad across vastly different time zones, adapting to new places and cultures while still showing up consistently for demanding clients. It taught me a lot about discipline, resilience and how to stay steady — even when everything around you is changing.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? My biggest win as an MBA has been my mindset shift, especially with finance. I used to avoid it because it felt intimidating, but now I’m leaning in and seeking out the challenge. My desire to take more finance courses has been my personal proof that I’m actively growing through the hard stuff, not around it.

What has been your best memory as an MBA so far? Late-night whiteboard study sessions and handwriting finance and accounting equations we could’ve done in Excel. Those nights created the kind of camaraderie I hadn’t felt in years.
