MIT Sloan: “Debiased machine learning, the currency of invoicing, and training good models with bad data: Meet the seven new experts bringing their knowledge and skill sets to the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Clem Aeppli, Assistant Professor of Work and Organization Studies

Comes from: Harvard, where he received a PhD in sociology in 2026.

Research: Aeppli uses quantitative approaches to understand how broad transformations in the organization of work shape inequality and instability. His projects have dealt with pay gaps between workplaces, the effect of rising workplace segregation on racial inequality, payroll instability at subcontractors, and the emergence of modern factories in the early 20th century.”

Yale SOM: “Three scholars in operations, marketing, and global affairs are the newest members of the Yale SOM faculty.

Jerry Anunrojwong, previously a distinguished postdoctoral fellow at the University of Washington’s Clean Energy Institute, has been appointed as an assistant professor of operations at SOM, effective July 1. Anunrojwong earned his PhD in decision, risk, and operations at the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

Lan E. Luo earned a PhD in marketing, also from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He joined the faculty as an assistant professor of marketing, effective July 1.

Earlier this year, Mary Elise Sarotte joined Yale as professor of global affairs and management, a joint appointment between the Jackson School of Global Affairs and the School of Management. She also serves as director of the Jackson School’s Brady-Johnson Program. Sarotte was previously a professor of historical studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. She earned her PhD in history from Yale.”

Indiana Kelley Partners With National Science Foundation For Economic Development Initiative Worth Up to $160-Million

Kelley School of Business: “An Indiana University-led coalition of industry, workforce, clinical, government and research partners is now part of a major U.S. National Science Foundation initiative that will build a regional innovation ecosystem in Indiana focused on the care and treatment of musculoskeletal health conditions such as arthritis and osteoporosis, and acute and interventional needs like bone fractures and traumatic injuries.

The new National Science Foundation Regional Innovation Engine — called the Indiana Musculoskeletal Health Partnership for the Advancement of Care & Treatment (IMPACT) – will bring together over 170 industry, clinical, and university partners to transform how musculoskeletal conditions are treated and builds Indiana into a national hub for this work.

Amrou Awaysheh, OneAmerica Foundation Endowed Chair and professor of operations and supply chain management at the IU Kelley School of Business, is co-principal investigator and chief technology and innovation officer, of the National Science Foundation grant. The coordinated regional ecosystem will receive $15 million over two years, with the potential to eventually receive up to $160 million from NSF if progress is achieved on well-defined milestones. It was announced on July 14.”

Wisconsin School of Business Redesigns MBA Curriculum

Wisconsin School of Business: “In Wisconsin, progress tends to start with careful listening, steady work, and a belief that preparation matters. The Wisconsin School of Business has been doing exactly that—studying industry needs, gathering insights from employers and alumni, and asking tough questions about how students learn best. Senior associate dean of programs Daniel Bauer went even further, spending countless hours meeting with deans and senior leaders, and investigating what separates the best programs from the rest.

The result, launching in Fall 2027, is a redesigned full-time MBA program shaped by the realities of an evolving business landscape. Rooted in the school’s Mission MBA initiative, the new program builds on Wisconsin’s long-standing strengths: scholarly rigor, applied learning, and a genuine commitment to making high-quality business education accessible.
