I would 100% recommend Judith as a consultant. Judith is very kind and patient, which is super important in what can be a rather sensitive journey. I was a returning applicant and she really helped me find a unique story to tell in my reapplicant essay. I am so glad I went with her because I would have probably gone in a generic direction that wouldn’t make me stand out. Her service is a worthy investment in your future.
Jessica Chung was EXTREMELY helpful in my process of re-applying to UCLA Anderson School of Business’s Full-Time MBA Program. Because I had already written my application essays and filled out most of the application, I came to Jessica for specific feedback on my essays and overall application approach. Not only was she extremely willing to chat over the phone and work through my essays and questions (she was very generous with her time!), but she was able to give me direct advice that was specific to Anderson. It was very evident that Jessica had Admissions Committee experience throughout the process and I have no doubt that Jessica would be an amazing resource for anyone applying to Anderson or another MBA school, whether for hourly services or a more comprehensive admissions consultant package.
I knew I wanted to get an MBA. However, I wasn’t confident that I would be able to craft my application in a way that would showcase my strengths or get my story across. I debated getting an admissions consultant because of the cost, but it was 100% worth it. I think a huge pro of having a consultant is the detailed feedback and ability to circumvent any potential hurdles in the application process.
Working with Michel was a breeze! She is super professional and honest and responds very quickly. I was able to share my story with Michel and we were able to work together to craft my entire application. She got into the details of my essays and provided great feedback to make sure my story came across. She also helped me prepare for my interview, being sure to provide comments on the best parts and areas of improvement within my responses.
She truly wants to see you succeed and is willing at any time to hop on a call to answer any questions or help you brainstorm. I worked with Michel for two M7 school apps and used the information she shared to work on my other applications. With Michel’s help, I was able to interview at two schools and ultimately got admitted to an M7 with a scholarship!! If you are thinking of hiring an admissions consultant, look no further than Fortuna and Michel! They are the BEST!
Karen has been extremely helpful during all stages of the application process. She has put a great deal of work to ensure that my post-MBA career narrative is compelling and achievable, and also guided me through the way of self-reflection all the way through the past to come up with a fascinating personal story. Her deep understanding of the application process from the view of adcoms, as well as time and effort spent on knowing applicant’s strengths and weaknesses is the major reason why I can finally get into my preferred dream school.
While going through my early consultations with various consultants, Karen stood out to me because right off the bat in our phone call I felt like she was interested in MY story and how we could work on making it the most appealing to admissions. Many other consultations made me feel like they were just checking the box going through the conversation.
Ultimately, I ended up working with Karen and another consultant from Fortuna, with Karen overseeing the progress. I found her insight on our strategy calls very insightful and she helped me really find the parts of my application that made me stand out.
Trisha played an instrumental role in not only helping me develop the stories for my essays but also helped me really think about the reasons behind why I wanted an MBA. I feel as if this translated into stronger final essays and helped with admissions.
She was also very timely at returning edits to me and helpful at managing deadlines when I would fall behind a bit from being busy with work. Some of my essays easily went through 10 iterations (2 even had complete rewrites) and she was always quick to review and provide thoughtful feedback.
Finally she was almost always available to set up time to meet. I found this particularly helpful for brainstorming essays and getting some ideas down. She was easy to brainstorm with and great at helping pull together different topics I was considering or dive into a certain story I had to make it work.
I worked with Sharon on my HAAS EWMBA application through Fortuna using their hourly services package. Sharon’s nuanced understanding of what the Ad com looks for in a candidate was extremely useful. She was very good at identifying my strengths and did an excellent job of crafting an application strategy around them. Her attention to detail is extremely impressive and she is very easy to work with. We connected a month before the deadline and her focused work helped me complete my application with a week left. I highly recommend Sharon as an MBA coach.
From the start, Karen was candid about addressing the challenging aspects of my application, including laying out a plan for how we would overcome these obstacles during the process. Her keen insight about what would be required to make a strong application and to be competitive was reassuring and boosted my confidence throughout an enormously competitive year (COVID cycle). Talking with her felt like speaking with a person who lived, breathed, and dreamed about the application process and understood what the adcom would be looking for in a student.
I initially connected with Karen during the late summer of 2020, while vetting various MBA consulting agencies. (Fortunately, I was paired with her during my free Fortuna evaluation, only a few weeks before she was named one of the top 7 consultants by Poets & Quants). During the consultant evaluation process, there were others who would not work with me because they didn’t think I could pull off admittance to a top program due to my limited quant background and OK quant score. Karen never wavered in her belief in my ability to gain admission into an M-7 program (during perhaps the most competitive cycle in history). I am eager to attend Columbia in the fall and know that Karen played an instrumental role in my offer. She was pleasant to work with and I would recommend her to anyone who desires to enter a top program.
I had a wonderful experience working with Jessica! She helped me tremendously with updating my resume, briefing my recommenders, and tailoring my essays for each school, all of which would have been really difficult to navigate not having any friends or coworkers who were applying at the same time as I did. As a result, I knew what to highlight in my applications and how to approach different problems and questions. Jessica was also quick to answer my questions and gave me confidence when I was preparing for my interviews, which meant a lot considering her wealth of experience working with students and in admissions herself. All of this resulted in an acceptance to one of my top choice schools with a fellowship! Would highly recommend working with Jessica if you have the opportunity to do so!
I had a great experience with Zach and was accepted to my top choice schools. Zach was exceedingly helpful in guiding me towards a coherent story that aligned with my past experiences. He helped me understand key selling points and create a plan for communicating these points across my applications. Zach was a fantastic listener and added thoughtful insights at each step of the application process. I would recommend Zach to any prospective business school applicant.
Jessica greatly helped me throughout the stressful application process from start to finish. She genuinely cared for my success and gave me honest opinions from selecting which programs to select based on my background, statistics, and career interests. She is very knowledgeable about the process as she was previously part of the admissions team at UCLA. Without the help from Jessica, I would not have been able to finish and submit the best possible application to the schools of my choice.
From knowing not too much about how to approach each application, Jessica provided detailed steps to tailor each application to specific schools. As a result, I was able to get accepted to a great program with a scholarship! I’d highly recommend Jessica to ease anyone’s stressful MBA application process.
I worked with Jenifer for 6 months applying to 5 different schools. With her help and guidance, I was invited to interview with four of them. All schools are very competitive top MBA programs.
Jenifer is an amazing person and coach. She goes above and beyond in getting to know her clients in order to cater to the best story about them. We built an amazing relationship that I am sure will last for good. She is very genuine in her feedback and guidance which what candidates need the most in preparing their applications.
I consider myself very lucky to have worked with her. You are great Jenny!
TYK!
I had a fantastic experience working with Judith; I am delighted to offer my strongest recommendation. Judith has an unparalleled ability to meaningfully connect the dots between seemingly disjointed experiences in a candidate’s profile. Judith’s analytical shrewdness allows her to craft a personally tailored approach that combines big-picture thinking (such as identifying the most compelling narrative given a candidate’s background) with micro-level execution strategy (such as determining the proper sequence in which examples ought to appear in an essay). Her written feedback on essay drafts was invariably thought-provoking, reflecting a keen eye for detail. Judith demonstrated great flexibility throughout my engagement. She was always extremely quick to reply to my email queries and would take calls on very short notice. It was abundantly clear that Judith was wholeheartedly invested in my success. I look forward to starting my MBA at Stanford GSB this fall!
I had an excellent experience working with Malvina. As a reapplicant, I can tell her feedback on my applications really made a difference. Her insights about the schools helped me submit authentic, high-quality applications and thanks to her detailed feedback on our mock interview, I felt very well prepared for the real one. In addition to being very professional, Malvina was also a pleasure to work with, always delivering feedback in a very kind and supportive way, and providing guidance throughout the entire process. In the end, I secured an offer from my top choice school. I very much recommend working with her!
I had an extremely positive experience working with Rachel on my mock interviews for Stanford GSB. Rachel, a GSB alum, has an unrivaled understanding of the type of questions Stanford interviewers like to ask. Thanks to her I was able to correctly predict many of the questions thrown at me at my actual interview. Rachel is highly conscientious: she is deeply invested in the success of her students. After my mock interview, she sent me several pages of action-oriented notes within 24 hours. These covered everything from how to convey my examples more vividly to my choice of attire. Rachel’s strategic advice proved critical to my success.
I worked with Michel during this year’s admission cycle, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. Thanks to Michel, I was able to gain acceptance to two of my target schools in what I believe has been the most competitive year for international applicants in recent memory. Michel has all of the attributes you would expect from a top-tier admissions consultant; perspective on what top schools are looking for in an application, speedy turnaround on feedback, and great insights on how to ace interviews. These attributes, coupled with the feeling that Michel was genuinely invested in my success, made it easy to form a strong working relationship in short order. Having this type of relationship with your consultant is critical because schools will expect that you reveal your authentic self in your applications, and it is hard to be vulnerable enough to do that if you’re not working with someone you trust. If you are considering working with an admissions consultant, take the time to have an introductory call with Michel; I suspect you’ll be able to quickly confirm everything I have claimed above!
As an applicant, I was initially hesitant to hire a consultant due to the cost, and I can confidently say the experience with Michel was nothing short of amazing. I would say what differentiates Michel is i) her strategic perspective on my profile (ii) her extensive experience and guidance, and (iii) finally, her humor and dedication throughout the application journey. Initially, I had a view of how I wanted to craft my story and application, coming from more of a common background in finance. Michel provided specific viewpoints and honest feedback as to how I could differentiate myself which allowed my voice to come through in the essays by highlighting parts of my background that I did not think of synthesizing. Furthermore, Michel’s guidance was invaluable throughout the process – whether that is reviewing the essays, to the recommender deck, or preparations for the interviews. She ensured that I always brought out the best part of my candidacy in each step and prepared for any hurdles. Lastly, Michel is frankly a pleasure to work with – she is always ready to hop on a call to bounce ideas, is open and honest, has a great sense of humor, and is truly an advocate for me. I cannot thank her enough for her wisdom in the process, and I was able to secure a place at my dream school (HSW) and another M7 school because of her efforts. I highly recommend partnering with Michel if you are serious about your MBA application process!
I can’t say enough great things about Karen! She was incredible to work with, and provided everything you could want in a coach, and much much more.
She was always there for me every step of the way and provided a wealth of experience and insight as I was progressing through the process.
She is an incredibly dedicated, capable, knowledgable, and empathetic person to work with.
I was thrilled to get admitted to an M7 school, and Karen’s insight and expertise took away the stress and made it a very enjoyable, reflective, and rewarding experience.
If you’re aspiring to gain admission into a top MBA program, I can’t imagine anything better than having Karen in your corner 🙂
As someone who started the process rather late and had no clue where to start, I was looking for someone who was willing to dedicate the time but I was not expecting someone who would also put in the effort to getting to know me personally. Karla was the whole package and then some. From our first conversations, I could tell that she was very familiar with how to help her clients get to top schools. What sets Karla apart though, is her ability to connect with you on a personal level to draw out key pieces of your personal story and coach you to weave a cohesive narrative. I enjoyed working with her because she was patient, empathetic, but always focused on making sure that I was putting the best version of myself into the process. This didn’t start and stop at the application phase of the process, but she helped me think about my school selection all the way through the interview preparation. I got into 2 M7s and can confidently say I couldn’t have done it without her help. Go with Karla if you want someone who will spend the time to get to know you beyond your credentials in order to help build your story, you won’t be disappointed!
I chose to work with Heidi after speaking with a dozen of consultants and she proved I was right. She is extraordinarily supportive, always available, and superbly experience with the MBA application journey. She guided me through every step in the process from the very beginning, and her presence just eased my anxiety away.
She helped me the most with my essays – walking me through my experiences to find the theme, offering insights about my characteristics that I wasn’t self-aware, giving me the freedom to test out different ideas, and offering great feedback on each one. She’s definitely an amazing partner to work with and a key contributor to my multiple offers!
Working with Mr. White was the best decision I’ve made. With a combination of his communication as well as education experience, Mr. White was able to help my application and story on many different levels – levels that I did not know existed.
His leadership style was laissez-faire (at least with me), encouraging me to take the lead and think deep within my life to proactively bring out new, creative ideas while he provided direction. This brought out the best in me and I was able to dig out stories and examples that I would not have otherwise been able to. He competently orchestrated these diverse stories into a well thought out application, as he understood my unique selling points and matched them to the school’s values. He constantly thought about my application at a macro as well as micro level, helping me add valuable details to my application while sticking to a theme – keeping the bigger picture in mind.
He was always available to chat and answer my questions. He understood the complex application process through a student’s lens and therefore was patient with me throughout the journey.
I highly recommend Mr. White for one’s MBA application.
I worked with Julie on my Wharton application, which I then used for 5 other schools. I received an invitation at all schools, and admitted to Ross ($$), Tuck, and Wharton. Julie was a tremendous help throughout the entire process, even with a relatively aggressive round 1 timeline.
I was connected with Sharon with less than a month before my applications were due and she helped me push to the finish line! She helped me mainly with my essays, pushing me to really consider what my point was and how to use the word count to my advantage. Her response time was incredible and she worked efficiently to make the best use of her time. I have no doubt that working with her helped in my admission acceptance. I HIGHLY recommend working with her and will always be grateful for the value she provided to me.
I had the pleasure and privilege to work with Heidi for my applications to 6 top MBA programs in the US, and ultimately got accepted by 4 schools. As an applicant of South Asian origin working in finance, my two biggest concerns were presenting a differentiated enough story amongst what tends to be one of the most competitive pools in the application process + being able to put my best foot forward given the demanding nature of each application and the limited time I had with my job to focus on the application process.
Heidi made the process incredibly seamless. I found her to be a great listener, where she gave me the freedom to craft my own story, while constantly challenging me on bits that needed more work/clarification. Once we developed the general narrative, Heidi had specific, pointed feedback on how to modify the story for each school, thereby allowing me to put my best foot forward and obviously typifying her differentiated understanding on what different schools are looking for. The application process is ultimately a game of margins, and I felt that Heidi’s knowledge and expertise brought an additional element of specificity to my applications which I could have never achieved on my own.
Heidi was also extremely methodical in her approach and we did a lot of legwork around putting different aspects of my personality, interests, past experiences etc. into tangible narratives, prior to starting the essay writing process. The impact of all of this work was that by the time I had finished writing my applications, not only had I internalized my “business school story” fully, but also fully internalized the dozens of other things that then came handy when the interviews started rolling in a few months. I cannot stress enough how easy it made the interview process, where I did not feel the need to do dozens of mocks or anything, because the fundamentals of my story were so clearly laid out owing to the work I did with Heidi. This is a testament to Heidi’s experience and vision as a coach, where the path from application inception to interview is fully clear in her mind, and the work she makes you put in the beginning goes a long way in the application cycle.
The other standout quality for me was Heidi’s incredible work ethic and how available she made herself to make the process easier for me. Turnaround time for every single draft was almost always less than 24 hours, and if for some reason there was a conflict on her side, the communication around it was super clear and significantly well in advance. Furthermore, Heidi’s calendar was always open to schedule a call to discuss literally anything, brainstorm ideas etc. There were never any limitations on phone/video calls – she was always there. Going into the application process this was the type of unbarred access and support I had hoped to receive, and Heidi simply over-delivered on this aspect.
Five stars all the way for Heidi. The business school application process is an incredible commitment on so many fronts, and Heidi could not have been a better mentor and coach to not only make the process seamless but incredibly rewarding in itself.
I knew that I’d want to maximize my chances with my application to business school, so using a consultant was always my plan. But I had not expected the level of attentiveness, insight and open-mindedness that Karen would provide, and her methods helped me earn a massive scholarship at an M7 school. I credit Karen for not making assumptions about what her clients need from her nor what they should focus on in their applications. She takes the time to deeply understand your perspective and your story so that you can create the best application for you.
Sharon was a joy to work with! Not only is she professional, she is also personable and fun. She truly tailors her services to your needs and encourages you to think introspectively as you navigate your interview prep, your essays, etc. Life will continue after the MBA and I have no doubt that Sharon’s advice will serve me well long after I graduate.
Judith is definitely the best of the best! I decided to work with Judith after speaking with a number of MBA consultants because I was very impressed with her experiences in this industry, and more importantly, felt related to her after our 1st call. On the first call (free consultation) she showed interest in my experiences and asked why I chose my current career path and how I became who I am. Judith helped me get into Booth for R1, and I applied for a few other M7 schools for r2 and will see how it goes!
Judith is great to work with. She is super responsive whenever I have a question and always has the right answers. During the whole process, I strongly felt that Judith cared about me not just as a consultant but also as a mentor, and thus I felt really comfortable having her on my side with more confidence in my application.
She knows all the M7 programs very well and can provide very personalized advice on selecting a school. She was able to help me clarify my approach for my schools of interest and more specifically knew the schools well enough to point me to the right resource for a specific program and why I was a good fit for the school with my background.
More importantly, Judith has such a great network with former gatekeepers of a lot of the programs, i.e. when I got an interview invitation from Booth, she immediately prepared me with one former Admission Director from Booth for a mock interview. She even provided a 2nd mock interview (on the house!!) just because she wanted me to be more prepared. Later on, I got an offer from Booth. I am from Asia (a very competitive application pool) and everyone knows that 2020 is a tough year. Thank you, Judith!
I honestly cannot recommend Fortuna enough! I interviewed with 3 different consulting companies prior to deciding on Fortuna. They don’t pressure you into working with someone but instead are extremely active in helping you set up coach interviews and finding your best match. The team at Fortuna was extremely helpful and would leverage each other’s expertise to help me craft the best application. Each of my applications/essays/school choices received attention from ~3 directors/consultants.
Cassandra was amazing since our very first call! I reached out to her in mid-July with zero progress on my applications, and we submitted all my applications by October. From the very beginning, she was very honest in providing feedback and the realistic programs to apply to. From there, she recognized my strengths and made sure my applications really highlighted them. I most valued her ability to help me craft a compelling story and her WRITING SKILLS (!), something that I knew I needed help with. I received offers from HEC Paris (with scholarship!) and Cambridge Judge.
The entire process was surprisingly enjoyable, all thanks to Cassandra!
If I could back in time, I would have met Karen sooner! Coming out of an unsuccessful MBA application year, I decided to seek out help. I signed up for numerous introductory sessions with MBA consultants, but Karen stood out from the rest! From the start, Karen was proactive, attentive, and thoughtful. She took the time to understand my background and helped me put my best foot forward for my essays, resume, and interview prep. Most importantly, I never felt misguided or pushed, and because of this, Karen was someone I could trust. There’s so much more I want to say, but ultimately, Karen was a joy to work with, and I am happy to announce that I will be attending Wharton (my top choice) this August.
When I started my MBA process, I had already worked in admissions consulting myself for 4+ years, albeit at the undergrad level. Even though I was very familiar with personal essay-writing, interview prep, etc., Heidi *still* added tremendous value to my MBA applications.
First, I was applying from a “non-traditional” business background, and Heidi was instrumental in helping me capture and articulate my experiences in a clear, concise way that would make sense to an admissions reader. From there, with thought-provoking questions and comments, Heidi guided me to develop a coherent and compelling application “narrative” that connected my past experiences with concrete post-MBA goals. At first, I signed on with Fortuna to do a one-school package. But I quickly realized how helpful Heidi was and began adding on more hours, more interview prep, etc. Ultimately, I was very proud of the applications I submitted, and I can’t imagine having achieved such high-quality without Heidi’s advice and expertise.
In terms of working style, Heidi is reliable and attentive. She checked in on my progress regularly, responded to my questions in a timely manner, and always turned around essay edits within a day or two (even faster, as we got close to deadlines). On several occasions, she sent me articles/online events that she thought I might be interested in given my career goals. In such a fundamentally stressful process, working with someone as reliable and thoughtful as Heidi went a long way in helping me (mostly) preserve my sanity!
So, my best advice to you: work with Heidi, and get a multi-school package from the get-go. If you’re anything like me, you’ll find yourself wanting Heidi’s sage input on as many application materials as possible.
(Lastly, including this info because I know some people look for it as they read reviews: I was admitted to several top 10 programs, including Wharton and Kellogg.)
I worked with Karla on my application and admission to HBS, my target school. I chose Karla because she had direct experience working at HBS, which made her stand out against other consultants. What makes Karla distinctive is that on top of her experience, she has a great ability to tell the story and find the thread that draws through all your experiences. This talent along with her personable nature made the essay drafting experience top-notch. When it came to the interviews, her insight was extremely helpful; she was attuned to the process and even knew my interviewer, so our mock interviews made me feel well prepared. Overall, I would definitely recommend Karla!
I do not think I would have gotten into both Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan without Karen’s help. I was very hesitant to use a consultant service and came to Karen very late in the process. I was fairly confident about the strength of my story and credentials but Karen truly took me to the next level as an applicant. From essays to resumes, every part of my application was elevated by Karen’s sharp and strategic reviews. Even her mock interview was incredibly rigorous and effective for my preparation.
Whether you need tactical help to get you over the edge or a full application roadmap, I strongly encourage you to work with Karen. She has an endless wealth of knowledge about the MBA process and is a pleasure to work with.
When I decided to apply to Wharton, Columbia, and Chicago Booth, I thought getting into any of these programs would be next to impossible for someone with my background. Now, after working with Karen for my Round 1 admissions-class of 2023-I have offers from both Wharton and Columbia in what was the most competitive app cycle in years. I still can’t believe it.
Throughout the application process, Karen was phenomenal and supportive, especially because I didn’t believe in my own candidacy. She did. Karen sharpened my resume, drew out my personal history and stories and had me tell them as clearly as possible in my essays. More, her understanding of what it takes to get into these top programs gave me a significant edge. This manifested in her relentlessness in ensuring that each draft of my essay and resume strengthened my candidacy and ensured that I stand out in the broader applicant pool.
Karen was also quite hands on with my interview prep for all three schools. I remember, she went to great lengths to ensure I was familiar with Wharton’s Team Based Discussion and organized a mock TBD just so I could get a feel for what to expect on interview day. With her guidance, I scaled all three interviews.
Honestly, what I am most sure of is that I likely wouldn’t have received any of these offers without her guidance. Thanks Karen.
It was an absolute pleasure working with Karen and the Fortuna Admissions team on my MBA applications. I had a phenomenal experience with the 3-school package and would highly recommend it to any prospective applicant.
Throughout the application process, Karen took the time to get to know me on a personal and professional level. She was very invested in my success from the get-go, taking the time to understand why I wanted to attend business school and to help me select appropriate reach and target programs. She always responded in a timely manner and consistently found ways to improve my candidacy.
Karen was a tremendous help during every stage of the application process. She helped me refine the content and format of my resume, prepare my recommendation requests, brainstorm essay ideas, proofread countless essay iterations, and prepare for interviews. Additionally, she was very resourceful, leveraging the expertise of her fellow coaches and directors to ensure my applications were competitive.
I’m not sure how I would have navigated this lengthy application process without her guidance. Thanks so much Karen! I am beyond excited to be attending one of my dream programs next year with a merit scholarship!
Karen was able to take my unique background and story and help craft it into a great narrative. She was extremely responsive and helpful, and went the extra mile to work with my schedule. She is extremely organized and would typically get me thorough feedback within a day. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone applying for an MBA; she was worth every penny. I got into my top choice (HSW) and had other options as well among the M7.
Coming into the MBA application process I had virtually no idea what to expect. I was quickly overwhelmed by the amount of information out there, so I made the decision to work with a consultant. Karen was one of the first consultants that I spoke with, but even after speaking with over ten others, I definitely felt the most comfortable with her. Deciding to work with Karen turned out to be one of the best decisions that I’ve made.
Karen has been there every step of the way, frequently going above and beyond to help me with every aspect of the application process. Karen’s insights and suggestions for my essays and overall narrative have been extremely helpful, as she’s really worked with me to craft a fluid and convincing story. Her feedback is extremely thorough and detailed, but she also never fails to view each individual piece of the application in the context of the broader picture. Beyond her help with the essays, Karen has been there to answer every question that I’ve had, no matter how trivial. I cannot emphasize enough how quickly she responds to my questions, and how amazing her overall work ethic is. Karen has been an incredibly effective guide throughout this stressful time, and has offered reassuring, but honest, advice each step of the way.
Karen is exceedingly organized, very personable and friendly, and great at crafting compelling stories. I cannot recommend her highly enough, as with her guidance and support I’ve been admitted to two of my top choices. I don’t know what it’s like to work with other consultants, but I can’t imagine finding a better one than Karen!
Karen was a phenomenal ally to have throughout the application process.
I connected with Karen relatively late (approx. 4 weeks before submission), after I had my story down and prelim essays already drafted.
However, I am so glad I reached out to Fortuna and Karen. My writing was very clinical and Karen’s insight/thoughts really helped me pull out my personality and inner voice to put onto the page. I think this really was the differentiating factor that helped my story pop.
Karen was great to work with. Even during the busy holiday season, she was able to get back to me with feedback or answer any questions often within a day.
After I got the interview invite, Karen helped me prep with a mock interview and was super patient with all of my at times neurotic questions. Ended up with an offer from CBS. Would highly recommend!
When I started my bschool application journey, I interviewed several consultants. Karen was the last one I interviewed, and she really stood out because she was so responsive in her communications (I was considering applying in the extended COVID round, and she and I had some long back and forths over email to figure out if it was the right move – before I had even signed with her!).
My main concern was that perhaps she was TOO nice. The other consultants tended to emphasize the weaknesses in my application (well, your quant score is only in the x percentile, so you should probably consider retaking after signing up for my GMAT tutorial service…..). Karen was positive from the getgo and told me straight up that whatever weaknesses there were in my application could be handled with the right story.
Karen and I went through multiple rounds of each bit of application material (and her being nice did not stop her from drilling down on my essays and resume). She is very patient and takes the time to help you with the little things, from ‘Do I sound too rehearsed in this video essay?’ to ‘which of these pictures should I include in my Columbia application?’ What is more, her positive attitude was extremely helpful throughout this anxiety-inducing process.
Ultimately, I received acceptances to Kellogg ($$$), Haas ($$) and Columbia! I am absolutely thrilled and know I could not have done it without her. I highly recommend Karen to anyone seeking a bschool consultant.
In early 2020, I spent weeks doing consultations with a handful of various consultants. Once I met Karen the decision was simple (the consultation was exponentially better than the others) and my experience could not have been any better. Karen was awesome to work with! Whether it was jumping on countless Zoom calls to answer questions, helping me craft a unique strategy around each school I applied to, or staying patient with me as I kept iterating on my essays, Karen was extremely helpful throughout (also, as mentioned in the other comments, Karen’s response time is off the charts). On paper I felt I would be competitive at most programs, but I wasn’t optimistic on my chances to get into any of the M7. Every time I felt discouraged, Karen was there pushing me along, genuinely believing in me, and building up my confidence. I ended up submitting five applications in R1 (all to M7 schools), and was hoping I’d get lucky on one or two. I ended up going 4/5 on interviews and accepted to two of my top three choices (HBS / GSB / W). I’d highly recommend Karen to anyone considering hiring an admissions consultant!
I applied to London Business school during an extremely competitive year (in take of Aug 2021) working in a high demanding job. I connected with Cassandra early on in the process while Fortuna was hosting a session on MBA admissions. At the very beginning I didn’t really understand the value of a good consultant but as I went along the process, I realised a consultant is more than just someone who reviews/reads your application material and gives feedback. The best way to define a consultant in this process is an extended family member/a life coach, who gets to know your life story in a short time and basis that advises and helps you to secure a MBA admission. Cassandra motivated me (emotionally and mentally) and kept me going through some very anxious and nerve racking moments (there are way too many of these along the road), I know the value of this motivation might not make sense but it goes a LONG WAY! Getting my interview invite from London Business School (LBS), Cassandra immediately got me ready for the interview and even had Emma (former Senior Manager at LBS admission) prep me for my interview. Emma and Cassandra’s inputs really helped me and 95%+ of the questions in my interview I had already covered with them helping me give a more confident interview. LBS also has 2 video questions to be answered and Cassandra went above and beyond to both provide me a wide question bank they asked in the past and further reviewed my answers to help me improve that played a major role in securing my admission at LBS. Fortuna has an in-depth understanding of each school with comprehensive analysis of student profiles/geographies represented, etc. (beyond just what is there on school websites) which is very very helpful while choosing schools. At the interview stage Cassandra shared a comprehensive list of 50+ questions divided by segment that the school asked potential admits (this again helped a lot). Cassandra is the cornerstone for my LBS admission and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Cassandra and am looking forward to meeting her in person in London.
I used the comprehensive package with Heidi, which definitely paid off. I came into the MBA admissions process without a solid understanding of how schools evaluate candidates, and how to position my story in a compelling way. Heidi helped guide me through the process and highlight the unique parts of my background, and her advice was incredibly useful to get a better understanding of how I could stand out in a well-represented pre-MBA demographic (finance). Her feedback on my essays and help with interview prep was the most critical piece, and made me come away feeling that I was putting my best foot forward. Overall, the results speak for themselves – I was accepted to two of my top choice M7 programs.
Working with Malvina has been a fantastic experience. I was a reapplicant (rejected without interview), coming from an over-represented background to being accepted into a top-tier program. She spent countless hours reviewing my essays and application questions and guided me as I doubted each answer. When I struggled to figure out what I was trying to convey, she helped me understand the nuances of the questions I was answering and how to best differentiate myself. During my interviews, she worked tirelessly to conduct mock interviews (and she was tough!) so that I was well-prepared to tackle any question. I would highly recommend her.
Brittany was incredibly gifted at helping me bring my stories together into a cohesive, logical, and convincing message to the schools I applied to. As a military veteran, I wasn’t sure exactly which stories would resonate best with admissions committees. Brittany’s expertise took the stress out of this crucial part of my applications. She also made corrections that helped me reduce jargon and make my essays understandable to everyone. The feedback I received through the Wharton prep-TBD was extremely helpful as well, and I will be heading to Wharton this fall!
Zach is a fantastic Admissions Consultant. The first thing that struck me about Zach are his strong listening and teamwork skills. Zach listens, considers, contemplates, and raises questions. These skills, coupled with his design and philosophy experience, allows him to bring thoughtful, creative ideas to the table. Zach was invaluable in helping me with tasks both big and small, from refining my story and future goals to word edits and a more effective resume format. His broad experience across many domains really shined through here. Finally, when I had questions about a specific school, Zach went above and beyond to solicit information (and time) from other consultants at Fortuna. In summary: Zach really cares… and that’s important. I give Zach my highest recommendation and am very pleased with my ROI.
When I started thinking about Business School, I knew having the right coach would be essential. Coming from an engineering background and having non-traditional goals post-MBA, I needed someone who could highlight specific traits in my application and help me craft my story. Due diligence and research led to countless calls with consultants, but I never found the right fit – until I talked to Melissa.
From our very first engagement, Melissa prompted me in ways that made me reflect more and understand myself better – a reflection that ultimately led to acceptance offers from Top US and European schools. Despite an extremely competitive application cycle, Melissa’s continual support, approachable character, and candor feedback kept me motivated, engaged, and on-point.
If you’re set on business school, make sure to get guidance not just from someone who can craft your story, but from someone who can help you look inward and introspect. Melissa is that person.
Karla was a true joy to work with, I could not recommend her highly enough — she really knows her stuff. Karla is an amazing storyteller, she is able to help you connect the dots and put together an application package that is authentic and compelling. I could not have done this process without her – she was my confidant, advisor and life coach through this all.
Before I talk about Bill I want to touch on why Fortuna is fantastic. I looked into a few admissions consultancies before settling on Fortuna. There simply isn’t another admissions consultancy out there with more depth and breadth of MBA admissions knowledge than Fortuna. I had the pleasure of working with Bill for the most part, but I truly felt like I had the full support of the entire Fortuna team.
As for Bill specifically, his extensive experience and background in MBA admissions clearly come through when you speak with him. There is probably no question or concern you have that he doesn’t have the answer to, but in case he doesn’t, you can tap into Fortuna’s team of consultants who are equally as knowledgeable as Bill.
Bill nails every aspect of what you’d expect from a top-notch consultant. He is very flexible, always available, and replies promptly and thoroughly to any question you may have no matter how simple they may be. He takes a very personal approach to you and allows your own story and personality to shine. He’ll make sure you’re on track, while also making sure you stay sane through the entire process. I was admitted to Wharton and Columbia during a tough application cycle and I’m sure that was in no small part due to Bill’s support. I can confidently recommend Bill to any MBA applicant without reservations.
Would 100% recommend to anyone! I signed up for a 5-school package with Fortuna and was super lucky to have Brittany as my coach. From day 1, I would feel less stressed every time after talking with her. Our chats were productive but also casual – it felt very much like catching up with an old friend as my story gets clearer and stronger. She made herself available and would always be prepared whenever we talk, and this installed a lot of confidence as I went through essays and interview prep. With her help, I was able to get into Wharton, and I will be attending Fall 2021!
Overall experience with Fortuna Admission team was great and would definitely recommend using their services if you need help with shaping your story! First, I had a meeting with Matt Symonds, who lifted my hopes and tried to highlight the features of my story that business schools would love. This was a ~45 minutes call which helped me take a different perspective on my profile and reflection! (Also, it is free) Once I committed to Fortuna, I started working with Emma on my MiM application. She was very responsive and very helpful whenever I needed her. I would never be able to pull through that process without her help. The specific features I liked about Emma: – First, we met up to get to know each other and discuss the essay topics and short answer questions. Emma is a great listener and at the same time she challenges your ideas to make sure you express yourself in the best possible way. – Once I got into writing the essays, Emma did an amazing job! She corrected the grammar, flow, and overall message of the essays. Emma has a really great understanding of what the b-schools are looking for in your essays! I was actually surprised by the amount of help I received since the MiM package is only 4 hours – Emma definitely spent more than that on my application! – After I got an interview invite, I purchased an additional hour to do a mock interview. Emma asked me basically the same questions I was asked during my actual interview and provided me with great feedback. She took notes of everything I said and once we were done she went through each of the questions providing me with weak and strong points of my answers.
To summarize, I doubt I would be able to do it on my own (especially that I started my application 2.5/3 weeks before the deadline!). Emma structured my approach to the application and provided me with great feedback on everything I did. I would definitely recommend Emma and Fortuna if you are looking into MiM programs or b-schools in general! My best investment of 2020!
As a nontraditional candidate (dance and English major, my first job was at a nonprofit arts organization), I was nervous about the MBA application process. I hoped that a consultant could help me find a balance of playing into my unique background while still presenting a clear picture of how I was equipped for the MBA. After speaking with a few different consulting firms who either glossed over my background or said it was a deficit to overcome, I was introduced to Fortuna and Karla, and it was basically love at the first 4-hour phone call. Karla immediately made me feel confident that my background as an artist was a strength to be explored rather than a deviation to be explained. Over countless phone calls, we worked together to tell my story in a way that was true to my voice, my values, and my goals. Karla was an inexhaustible well of knowledge about the small details of how to engage with the admissions process and finesse my applications, but even more important was her sharp insight that helped me thread the needle from my childhood to my current role to my future plans. The best part of working with Karla was actually how easy she is to talk to, allowing me to open up about my hopes and dreams and favorite quarantine TV binges. Our conversations were incredibly enjoyable, but our close relationship also helped us take my application to the next level. When I got into Stanford and HBS, Karla was the third person I called after my boyfriend and parents. I cannot recommend her enough.
