  • Great Experience With Michel
I had a great experience with Michel throughout applying to deferred MBA programs. She not only gave insightful feedback on my essays but also helped me to feel confident throughout the interview process. Michel was very responsive during the application cycle and made sure that I submitted each application with time to spare. With her help, I was admitted to an M7 school (I only applied to two schools). If you're a college senior thinking about deferred programs, Michel has great expertise and can definitely improve your chances.

  • Michel Is Phenomenal - Highly Recommend!
I first spoke with Michel several years before applying to MBA Programs - at the time, I was in information-gathering mode and testing the waters to see if a consultant may be worthwhile. Michel was extremely generous with her time and highly informative. Being on a budget, I was highly averse to hiring a consultant due to the high cost. With that said, in hindsight ... Michel is worth every penny (and more) as she provides expertise, guidance, and structure that is truly game-changing. Michel is very responsive, she's a realist and provides honest feedback/advice, and is also very encouraging, and provides a positive and exciting framework with which to tackle daunting MBA applications. She is super hands-on in terms of brainstorming, revising documents, meticulously ...

  • Michel Is Awesome!
I knew I wanted to get an MBA. However, I wasn't confident that I would be able to craft my application in a way that would showcase my strengths or get my story across. I debated getting an admissions consultant because of the cost, but it was 100% worth it. I think a huge pro of having a consultant is the detailed feedback and ability to circumvent any potential hurdles in the application process. Working with Michel was a breeze! She is super professional and honest and responds very quickly. I was able to share my story with Michel and we were able to work together to craft my entire application. She got into the details of my essays and provided great feedback to make ...

I worked with Michel during this year’s admission cycle, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. Thanks to Michel, I was able to gain acceptance to two of my target schools in what I believe has been the most competitive year for international applicants in recent memory. Michel has all of the attributes you would expect from a top-tier admissions consultant; perspective on what top schools are looking for in an application, speedy turnaround on feedback, and great insights on how to ace interviews. These attributes, coupled with the feeling that Michel was genuinely invested in my success, made it easy to form a strong working relationship in short order. Having this type of relationship with your consultant is critical because schools will expect that ...

  • Truly Excellent Experience
As an applicant, I was initially hesitant to hire a consultant due to the cost, and I can confidently say the experience with Michel was nothing short of amazing. I would say what differentiates Michel is i) her strategic perspective on my profile (ii) her extensive experience and guidance, and (iii) finally, her humor and dedication throughout the application journey. Initially, I had a view of how I wanted to craft my story and application, coming from more of a common background in finance. Michel provided specific viewpoints and honest feedback as to how I could differentiate myself which allowed my voice to come through in the essays by highlighting parts of my background that I did not think of synthesizing. Furthermore, Michel's guidance was ...

Michel was instrumental in building my profile. She was amazingly thoughtful and patient in understanding my background and working with me to put together the best application possible. I was dependent on her throughout and she was always reliable and thorough, providing incredible ideas and feedback from beginning to end. She even made me realize that I had a stronger application than I originally realized; her motivation enabled me to apply to my dream school and gain admission (M7)! I cannot imagine navigating this process without her and would highly recommend Michel and the entire Fortuna team to anyone looking for guidance or partnership in what otherwise is such an overwhelming process. • Highly Recommend Michel Belden
    11 months ago
I had the pleasure of working with Michel Belden to prepare for my deferred enrollment applications to business school during my senior year of college. I would strongly recommend working with Michel - she helped me discover and drive my application narrative from the first draft of my essay all the way through to the post-interview reflections many months later. With her guidance, I was accepted to 3 M7s, including HBS. Michel reviewed my essay drafts all the way through "V10" with sharp insights in each edit. We brought my many-page monstrosity to a tightly-executed narrative that succinctly encapsulated my application narrative. She responded quickly to the many questions I had and has a fast but thorough turnaround to her reviews. With the comprehensive school ...

I would highly recommend Michel for anyone who is seeking advice on the MBA application. Michel is very kind, patient, and responsible. I started my MBA journey less than three weeks before the deadline without any preps. However, Michel helped me plan out the whole process and ensured me stick with the deadline. She is truly a lifesaver for me. She quickly digested my situation and background and provided me a plan the day after I provide her my information. I eventually got into my dream school, the school I don't even have the courage to apply before I met Michel!

If you are on the fence about using a consultant, Michel was worth the cost and incredibly beneficial throughout the process. The entire Fortuna experience was great and helped take my application from good to great. When considering a consultant, I was looking for someone who had admissions experience and would be able to candidly evaluate my application. Michel provided a unique perspective when reviewing my essays and overall application. Michel was genuine, responsive and encouraging during the crazy application season. I knew going into the application process that I definitely wanted to work with a consultant, since I did not know anything about the business school process. Luckily, my friend recently worked with Michel and strongly recommended her, and I didn't hesitate to move forward with her after our initial consultation! My work with Michel and Judith, as well as the broader resources of Fortuna's platform, has been extremely valuable and key to my acceptances to three top business schools (2 M7s). Working with Michel was incredibly easy. I found Michel to be very quick to respond, thoughtful, and honest. She would always find time for us to chat, even if she was out of town herself. 2 years ago
Right from the start, she truly made an effort to understand my backstory, my work experience, extracurriculars as well as my intention to attend business school and my future goals. Afterward, she would constantly provide me with specific suggestions, given my profile, on how to best prepare for my applications, particularly on my essays. I worked with Michel for about a year because the first time I applied to business schools I didn’t get into the schools I was aiming, but after a very successful reapplication, I was able to get into my dream school (an M7 school). There are three things I really appreciate about working with Michel: 1) she’s quick, 2) she always knows what to do and 3) she’s genuinely on your corner. ...

  • Worth It
I think the title sums it up. Sure there's a monetary cost to hiring a consultant, but I can definitely say that for me, working with Michel was worth it. Your experience and circumstances will be different from mine, but Michel will know how to help you to bring out a more compelling story to tell the AdCom. I did not get a comprehensive school package, but rather the hourly services for help on my essay. Her advice was valuable in making my essays more coherent and logical. She didn't do the thinking for me since my story is really my own, but she asked me about why I chose to share certain experiences or how I could connect experiences to the overall story I ...

Michel and the whole Fortuna team were thorough, thoughtful and very helpful. Michel provided valuable guidance and insight throughout the process from data forms to essays to waitlist strategy. Her deep experience helped me create a holistic application and “story” that would resonate with each of the schools I applied to. In the end, I decided on Columbia Business School, and couldn’t be more excited! I would definitely recommend working with Michel and the Fortuna team, to have a team of experienced advisors on your side throughout a competitive and often stressful process.

Michel was absolutely integral to my success at getting into Stanford GSB. She guided my MBA process from start to finish, be it in big picture thinking about the best way to frame my story to the nuts and bolts of the application itself. She and her team’s experience in the actual MBA admissions offices were invaluable and definitely helped me feel confident I had an insider’s view into how the process works and what traits to highlight at each school to which I applied. Michel is also a generally lovely person, and I always looked forward to our phone calls. Thank you, Michel!

I was initially referred to Michel by a friend of mine who told me that they owed their seat at business school to her. I must admit though, at first, I was skeptical. I wasn’t sure if the services Fortuna offered were necessary- surely I could do it on my own… how wrong I was! It was during my very first call with Fortuna that I quickly realized that I lacked the knowledge of what business school adcom look for, how to answer the essay questions and how to stand out from the sea of other applicants. After my first consultation with Matt Symonds, I immediately knew I wanted to work with Fortuna. I could tell the entire Fortuna team had a knack for noticing the most compelling aspects of an applicant’s profile and making them shine. Matt talked me through Fortuna’s platform, their experience working with clients from similar backgrounds, as well as the flexibility I would have in choosing a coach. I chose to work with Michel because of her extensive experience working in admissions. I came to Michel with a vague idea of my “story”. She patiently talked me through how my background, past experiences, and extracurricular interests could create a cohesive, compelling application. I worked with Michel from early on my decision to apply for B-school. I knew that I was going to apply Round 1 and that I would be on the younger side if accepted by the schools I wanted to get into. So I did my extensive research and chatted with 6 different consulting agencies before finally choosing Fortuna. What really set Fortuna apart from the other agencies is the level of care and detail Michel went into crafting my story. I come from a traditional consulting background but I was looking to make a career pivot with my MBA to go into something a lot more untraditional. Results w/ Fortuna: Accepted to Wharton and Columbia ($100,000+), and invited to interview at HBS. I only applied to these 3 schools. Reason for Choosing Fortuna: During my initial free consultation with Matt Symonds, I found it refreshing to speak with a consultant who provides an honest assessment of the services that would be of most value to me. Coming from a generally overrepresented profile – management consulting, Asian American male, average undergrad GPA, and solid (but not especially high) GMAT – I wanted an admissions consultant that could help me to stand out. I chose Fortuna for the dedication of their consultants and depth of experience they brought. Most other admissions consulting firms simply connected me with recent graduates of MBA programs who were doing admissions consulting on the side (translate: very busy day jobs and limited availability), but Fortuna’s consultants were dedicated specialists with direct experience in the admissions offices. My focus was Wharton and I worked with Michel (Wharton alum, former Wharton Associate Director, former management consulting recruiter) and Judith (former Wharton Director) – I could not have asked for a ...
