Mr. Indian Quant

For someone so young and directed (because you are still two years away from applying), this is a super impressive profile. You have accomplished a great deal at the age of 22, particularly given your bout with clinical depression. Your stats–both GMAT and GPA–are terrific and so is your limited work experience and your extracurricululars. I would say there are three things to focus on over the next two years:
1) Gain assignments or positions at work that allow you to practice your leadership potential.
2) At Interact, try to put flesh, blood and data into your accomplishments. To help a school measure you impact, you will want to tell stories of the people you have helped and provide a sense of the magnitude of your actions, ie How many water purifications systems were installed due to your fundraising/how many local children were sent abroad in exchange programs.
3) While I believe your chances at Duke and NYU Stern are high, you need to apply to at least four to six programs. The reason is simple: Elite university admissions can often be random. Admission officials are crafting classes for a wide range of diversity, work backgrounds, geography, gender, race, and personal interests. It’s possible that when your app gets read, a school may put you in the male Indian bucket and there could be others in that applicant pool who the school may like better. It is also possible that you would be admitted with more scholarship money at some schools. This is why you need to hedge your bets and apply to a wider range of schools. Given your career goals, I would add Columbia, Chicago Booth, Wharton, and Cornell.
