on-traditional student for undergrad. Went back to school @ 30 and graduated with a 3.3 GPA, 2 degrees (SCM and Sustainability), and a certificate (Data Analytics) – while working 30ish hours a week. I have a couple of Ds on my transcript due to the large workload but, retook for better grades. Since I have a son with disabilities I haven’t pursued any additional certificates. I do have some casual volunteering work.

Hi Mr. Telecom Negotiator! This is Kate Richardson, Senior Admissions Consultant. It seems the community is focusing in on your degrees which I’m going to assume were done concurrently, as I’ve worked with several applicants who have double majored in two fields in four years. If you had an MA or MS in another field, that might present a concern of degree collecting, but I don’t think that applies here. And if you do already have an MA or MS, that’s not a dealbreaker. It just puts a bigger responsibility on you to explain why you need an MBA, and why now. I was wondering though about your length of employment — if it is only 2 years in total, that could be a challenge. …

I was wondering though about your length of employment — if it is only 2 years in total, that could be a challenge. It’s in range for Foster but the average is 6 years, so again, explaining your thinking on timing will be critical. What impresses me most about your profile are all your extracurriculars! I worked with another CASA volunteer once and it seemed intense! Not the most typical extracurricular either. With all these factors in mind, and a few assumptions I’m making, I’m putting your odds just above Foster’s 36% acceptance rate. Your GMAT and GPA stats are right in line with their averages (695, 3.39) so I think you’ve got a solid shot there if you pull together a strong application. Good luck!
Mr. Telecom Negotiator – Susan Cera here from Stratus Admissions. I admire your energy and passion. While your stats are on the lower side, I think you will have a very compelling story to tell that brings together both your professional experience in procurement as well as your side ‘hobbies’ of design thinking and working with at risk youth through CASA. I, too, am wondering about the years of work experience and feeling like something didn’t get captured in your P&Q profile. At age 33, even with a Masters in Data Analytics, I’m curious how you could have only 2 years of work experience. Perhaps you were doing something entirely unrelated before returning to get your masters? This could play into a solid narrative. One question you …

One question you will need to be able to answer is why you need an MBA to land a role as a consumer goods product manager. I can see that your design thinking background will be valued. Think about what areas you need to develop through an MBA that will put you on track for success. All the best.
Short work history for age.. Unclear goals. Degree collector. Appreciate the honesty in his resume that he has a double major in BS.
Biggest concern is that the applicant is a degree collector as he already has three business degrees.
Additional concern with respect to very brief work history shared on resume in light of the applicant’s age of 33 years old.
Unfortunately, the applicant’s introductory write-up about himself raises a suspicion of probably more of a wheeler-dealer type operator than a level-headed well reasoned business negotiator.
If the applicant had performed as claimed, his current company would have promoted him.
