First, achieving the the PMP on my first attempt was a great accomplishment because it was a 4 year goal that I had set for myself since senior year of undergrad. Second, it would be contributing to my dad’s business that he started when I was a young kid. I was able leverage my skills to improve his business strategy and performance.
I have observed a significant trend in organizations moving their core business infrastructures to cloud platforms like Workday and Service Now. I want to take opportunity if this wave and solidify my niche in implementation consulting for Workday HCM. I plan to leverage my PMP to work my way into PM roles in this space.

Hi Mr. Top 25 Hopeful, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. It really does feel like so much is heading cloud based and I’m sure your recent consulting and IT manager experence has given you insight into this trend. I think part of your experience is missing from your profile, because based on your description it sounds like you have closer to 5 years of experience than the almost 2 listed. The reason this is important is that 5 years puts you right at the mean of full time students – which is great, but 2 years is a bit early for an MBA. I like your dedication to your community in helping non-profits across digital transformations and sounds like you have a nice tie into …
I like your dedication to your community in helping non-profits across digital transformations and sounds like you have a nice tie into the local start up community. Workday HCM sounds like a great target company – and make sure you have some back up plans. I love a goal statement that includes an example company, and you need to have enough knowledge of your industry to know back up options. And then where do you see this role taking you long term? CTO at a company like Workday HCM? Starting your own consulting business? From the small glimpse into your story – it sounds like you were a part of starting your dad’s business – I’d love to hear more and know how that impacted your goals. And finally your GMAT score – while I would never want a score to dissuade someone from applying – a 680 is 40 points below Ross’s average. An increase here even by 20 points would put you in a more competitive position. The quant side in particular will help Ross see you can handle the academic rigor of the program. While Ross is an amazing school, I would encourage you to look at some other schools – as a 1 school strategy isn’t my favorite. Other schools you may want to look at would be Foster, Tepper, UNC or Emory. I think at each you’d find strong tech and entrepreneurial resources. Best of luck to you!
