Hi Ms. Ethical Fashion CEO, this is Kristen from MBA Prep School. Wow, you have a lot going on for a 23 year old! Launching a sustainable fashion brand while working a full-time job in the electric vehicle sector not only shows you have drive, but also reinforces your passion for sustainability. Your time at World Bank, role at your family’s non-profit, and volunteerism for UNICEF also underscore that social impact is important to you. Given your sociology major and lack of a GMAT score, I’m not sure how much quant background you have. You’ll want to target a GMAT above 700 and possibly enroll in MBA Math fill any gaps you may have. My bigger concern, however, is your amount of work experience. …

The average MBA admit has 5 years of experience; while you are doing a lot right now, I don’t yet get a sense of your impact in your roles. Is your start-up being funded, has it made a profit yet, etc.? What kinds of accomplishments have you had in your analyst role? I’d also like to hear more about what you feel makes Marshall the right fit for you. If you goal is to focus on your start-up full-time, what specific resources does Marshall’s program offer that will help you (beyond just “business fundamentals”)? You might consider waiting another year or two to apply when you have more experience under your belt and more tangible outcomes to share. We’d be happy to provide more advice, just reach out!
