The Stanford MSx Program is a residential experience for mid- to executive-level managers. Fellows live on-campus or very near while they prepare for senior roles in business, government, and society to serve as policymakers and diplomats, financiers, entrepreneurs, and social innovators. The program’s academic goal is to provide a deeper command of all disciplines required of a general manager.
The required core curriculum assumes limited prior knowledge of academic business subjects. However, core courses do require a proficiency in quantitative concepts and a computer spreadsheet program. Those interested in attending the program who do not have a strong quantitative background and basic computer skills, may benefit from taking a calculus or statistics course before enrolling.
The program’s core curriculum encompasses fundamental management concepts, supplemented with elective courses and the opportunity to follow specific interests through classes in other Stanford schools.
In addition to the core material, more than 100 elective courses are offered each year. Fellows may tailor their academic experience to meet personal career goals and needs. Some elective courses mix resources from the business school with other parts of Stanford University such as the schools of law or medicine, interdisciplinary programs in environment and resources, and public policy.
