The Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAc) program is now STEM-designated and is offered in a one-year full-time or two-year part-time option (for domestic students). It is one of only two UC-based MPAc programs in Southern California that provides an intensive, focused level of training designed to prepare students for an executive career in accounting. Throughout the Master’s experience, students can choose from a variety of Merage School electives and get connected with the broad network of Merage School alumni. Students are immersed in the curriculum, that coupled with prior coursework, will enable them to meet the new State of California Board of Accountancy education standards for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant. The MPAc program also allows students to customize their degree with optional tracks in Data Analytics, Taxation, or a pathway in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG). Upon successful completion of the MPAc program, students are awarded a Master’s Degree in Professional Accountancy.
The full-time option spans 9-months or 3 academic quarters. Students who attend the MPAc program have an opportunity to apply for a paid internship with some of the top firms in the industry and complete this internship either part-time or full-time during their winter or Spring quarter. Alternatively, students may complete a part-time internship during the Spring quarter. The two-year option for domestic students is an 18-month program over 6 academic quarters. Students can work while completing the MPAc program in the two-year format.
