MiM entrepreneurs of 2020 Thomas RebaudThomas Rebaud

Emlyon Business School

Founder of Meero

Hometown: Paris

Fun Fact About Yourself: BDS (student sports bureau) President in 2010

Undergraduate School and Major / Degree programme: M2 Market & Companies Finance, MSC II Finance Market, Asset pricing, Arbitration, VBA Programming, Asset Management, Fixed Income, Derivatives Products at emlyon

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your life so far:  There’s many ways to answer this kind of topic, but I guess on the professional side it would be Meero. The fact of succeeding in the first steps in building a marketplace, connecting creators and clients for so many different countries and topics.

Was Entrepreneurship always your career goal?  Yes and no. I was really interested in everything going around market finance (and still am for that matter), yet at the same time I always desired to work for myself. Which was confirmed during my internship at Société Générale, and the reason why I created my first venture, right after emlyon, without going through traditional employment.

What led you to pursue an MiM at this point in your personal development? The will to receive a multi-disciplinary yet specialized education

What other MiM programs did you apply to? How did you determine your fit at various schools? N/A – just emlyon

What was the key factor that led you to choose this Masters in Management and why was it so important to you? Emlyon has a strong reputation, and I wanted a comprehensive training programme that really focuses on developing hard and soft skills, based on projects.

Tell me about your venture: On the one hand, Meero enables image creators to generate additional revenue by connecting them with companies that have recurring visual content needs. On the other hand, we allow these companies to order photo reports that meet their specifications worldwide with just a few clicks. Thanks to our AI technology, which automates a laborious part of the retouching process, companies can upload their ready-to-use content within 24 hours.

How has your business school experience helped you in creating and launching your business? It truly developed my hard and soft skills. It gave me the ability to adapt to every situation while being specialized in my area of expertise.

What activities/experiences have most benefitted you on your entrepreneurship journey during your time at business school? I was the president of the junior branch of the World Entrepreneurship Forum, an association present in 10 countries that aimed to develop entrepreneurship as an agent of growth and employment. This really helped me grow as an entrepreneur. Meeting with various pools of talent was really enriching, as well as the networking opportunities it brought.

What quality best describes the MiM classmates you’ve met so far and why? What was really enriching is that they came from different fields and had various experiences.

What is the biggest/most important lesson you have learned during your studies? Play hard but work harder – There’s no secret to success, and the only way to achieve any type of initiative is hard work.

What are the next steps for you / your entrepreneurial venture? Succeeding in making it all work

Where do you see yourself in five years? At Meero! There’s much work left to do!
