Recalling your own experience, what advice do you have for applicants who are preparing for either the GMAT or the GRE? Spread out your practice tests to identify your weaknesses and spend time drilling on the areas where you found you are weak. Reading through the course material is always good, but I found that by focusing on weak areas, I was significantly able to focus my limited study time to best improve my score.

Based on your own selection process, what advice do you have for applicants who are trying to draw up a list of target schools to which to apply? I would recommend searching beyond just rankings and evaluating a school for the lifestyle that you are trying to achieve. Visiting the school is, and I believe will always be, the best thing to do to understand whether an environment is right as there are so many factors that create the “perfect” program for each MBA candidate.

What advice do you have for applicants in actually applying to a school, writing essays, doing admission interviews, and getting recommenders to write letters on your behalf? The frequently heard advice is frequent for a reason. Planning far in advance, getting multiple people to review essays, preparing challenging stories and experiences for interviews, and sending preparation packages for recommenders are all extremely helpful. I encourage applicants to enjoy the process, as the stress can be difficult. Use this as an opportunity to take inventory of your career and remember all that you have accomplished.

What led you to choose this program for your full-time MBA? I chose Fisher College of Business because of its reputation in the majors I am interested in pursuing. Additionally, with the extremely positive experience I received in my undergraduate experience, I thought there would be no better place to re-establish roots after years of consulting travel. I also feel as if I owe a great deal of my success thus far to this university and I would like to do what I can to positively contribute to the future of the program.

What would you ultimately like to achieve before you graduate? In addition to being a successful student throughout my time, I would like to ensure I can positively contribute to the college’s reputation. Whether helping to further an existing program or identifying and developing new programming, I would like to leave with a legacy that allows future Fisher students to flourish.
