Description: No firm is immune. From retailers to tax services to hospitality, internet-based firms are razing the competition, using everything from lower cost models to convenient analytics-driven comparisons to gain market share. Everyone knows the big names —Borders, Circuit City, and Blockbuster just to name a few. Why did they fail? What could they have done? Which industries are poised to be turned upside down in the coming years? In this case-based course, students will learn how successful companies have fended off digital upstarts, integrating digital models and technologies to become leaders, even disruptors, in their own categories. In other words, students will not only learn how to mitigate threats, but emerge stronger than ever because of them.

Review:  “This course was worth it for the lecturer’s Case Studies alone. I have recommended a lot of people take this as a great way of getting a broader perspective of business and change. And it was all well presented – to the point where this is one of the few lecturers I actively look for with the intention of enrolling in his courses. It looks like the material has got a little corrupt since I did the course – which is a real shame Hopefully Coursera will fix that and restore the old stuff to it’s rightful state.” For additional reviews, click here.
