Meet Chicago Booth’s MBA Class Of 2019

Yarden Berkman

University of Chicago, Booth School of Business

Describe yourself in 15 words or less: Work hard, play hard attitude with a love for new experiences and adventures.

Hometown: Sunnyvale, CA

Fun Fact About Yourself: I can jump backwards onto my hands and flip over (also known as a back handspring).

Undergraduate School and Major: California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (Cal Poly SLO for short)

Employers and Job Titles Since Graduation:

Current job: Mobile Growth Intern at Tally (pre-MBA internship through Booth’s start-up summer program!)

Previous job: Senior Treasury Analyst at Agilent Technologies (started as a Treasury Analyst out of undergrad)

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Taking the lead on a variety of high impact, senior-level projects despite being new to the field. Some examples include interest rate hedging strategy and execution and senior note issuances.

Looking back on your experience, what one piece of advice would you give to future business school applicants? Really take the time to get to know what makes each school unique and different to best find your fit.

What was the key factor that led you to choose this program for your full-time MBA and why was it so important to you? The people – I really enjoyed the conversations I had with current and former students throughout the MBA application process. I was impressed with the genuine interest students showed in each other at both the personal and professional level. I knew right away that Booth would be the right fit for me.

What would success look like to you after your first year of business school? Getting a kick-ass internship in the fin-tech space (something I’m super excited about pursuing).
