Daniel James Smith is a senior pursuing a triple major in German, business and accounting at a private, selective liberal arts college called McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. With a GPA of 3.96 and a 650 GMAT on the first try, he’s applying to Harvard Business School’s 2+2 program.
Studying German since the eighth grade, he is in the global fellows’ program and the model European Union. Last summer, he interned at J.P. Morgan in the global finance and business management program and has already leveraged that opportunity into a full-time job when he graduates this year. With a career objective of working in a global job, Daniel hopes to ultimately land an international stint with Morgan after his first year–before going to Harvard Business School.
In this Friday’s With Sandy video episode, HBSGuru.com Founder Sandy Kreisberg offers guidance and some tough love to help Daniel increase his odds of getting into the highly selective 2+2 program. He suggests ways for the candidate to distinguish himself in a large pool of more than 1,000 2+2 applicants.
