The school announced plans to overhaul its MBA programs with new courses and enhanced career services support for the upcoming fall semester. New updates include expanding student engagement efforts, program curriculum, career services, and experiential learning across the b-school’s five MBA programs, The GW Hatchet reports. LESS TIME, MORE OPTIONS One of the main changes to the program will be decreasing the amount of time needed to complete an MBA to three semesters as well as making it easier for students to tailor programs to their interests. “The desire for more hands-on experience with employers, more opportunities to grow students’ professional social network and an emphasis on adding more analytic and technical skills into the curriculum was a common theme expressed by all stakeholders,” Liesl Riddle, the associate dean for graduate programs in the business school, tells the Hatchet. Students will have the option to complete a full-time MBA in as few as three semesters. Additionally, Riddles tells the Hatchet, “students in our part-time programs, accelerated MBA, healthcare MBA, online MBA, and professional MBA can complete the degree in as few as two years.” EXPERIENTIAL FOCUS The b-school is also introducing a new course called “Business and Technology in D.C.,” which will allow students to work with local employers to solve issues they may have with technology. Additionally, the b-school will be adding new one-credit skills-focused courses on topics such as artificial intelligence and health care. AI has shown rapid growth in the MBA world with b-schools, such as Kellogg and Wharton all adding courses on data and analytics.
