Reasons To Study a MiM, or a Master in Management

If you are considering studying the MBA’s cousin, the MiM (Master in Management), at IESE Business School, you will want to have clear what this relatively new offering from the Barcelona-based institution is all about.

The program’s core courses range from marketing and finance to strategy and economics. In a nutshell, you will build a solid foundation of business-management knowledge.

Various projects on the course are designed to allow you to integrate, connect and apply what you learn. Practical experiences and complementary activities will help you unlock the knowledge of how different functional areas combine to create both economic and non-economic value within companies.

At IESE, you’ll also engage with the business world’s most critical issues in a special series program during the MiM. The idea is to help you develop the mentality to tackle complex day-to-day problems as a manager in the workplace.

During the program, you will have the opportunity to concentrate on one of the following three tracks: data analytics, strategy or marketing, and finance.

At the end of the program, there will be a special capstone course that will help you reflect on what you’ve learned, and plan the next steps in your career.

Upon finishing her first term at IESE, Marta Lago Velilla (MiM 2021), said of her experience:

“During these past 3 months of the MiM, I have improved in terms of making reasonable decisions about complex situations and dealing with problems in a structured manner. Not only I have learned the ability to express ideas with clarity, but also I have learned by doing, asking the right questions, and making appropriate decisions at the right time to improve and grow.”

If the course content appeals to you, next take a look at your own personal situation and see if it aligns with the MiM.

The program particularly suits those who recently graduated college, are nearing the end of an internship, or have a maximum of two years of professional experience. The average age of participants is 23.

It might be a comfort to learn that the MiM could also be for you if you’re feeling lost at sea, be it in your first job or fresh out of university. One of the premises it is built on is the fact that the world’s most successful businesspeople sought guidance during decisive moments, and invested in themselves in order to have the ability to contribute to society in a positive manner.

A Master in Management (MiM) will help you clarify your goals and plot your path from where you are now to where you want to be.

Finally, why would you study IESE’s MiM? Because companies need you and your potential talent! So start honing it.
