What word best describes the U.C. Riverside MBA students and alumni you’ve met so far? Talented. My peer mentors and classmates are knowledgeable and passionate about their career paths. Their eyes shine when sharing their study journey and the goal they are pursuing. Listening to their stories lightens up my day and inspires me.

Aside from classmates, what was the key part of U.C. Riverside’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school, and why was it so important to you? One of the most valuable aspects of choosing UCR is connecting with professors and peer mentors with years of work experience in almost every business field. They have broadened my perspective on the professional workplace and guided me to polish my portfolio in the smartest and fastest way. I believe interacting and being surrounded by talented people will certainly motivate me to become better every single day.

What course, club, or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at U.C. Riverside? The AGSM Programming Club is the most exciting club I have registered for. I am impressed by how knowledgeable and thoughtful the club founders are; they want to help graduate students learn coding to distinguish themselves from other applicants in the business world. I am very passionate about programming, and joining the club helps to strengthen my knowledge.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: My biggest accomplishment so far is the opportunity to intern in the U.S. I interacted with many professionals in my career field of financial planning and analysis and have grown so much from that. They inspired me to develop my analysis skills because they understand how important it is in every business. For example, I learned different skill sets for data visualization presentations and shortcuts to extract insights faster from financial data. Getting into the MBA program at UCR is another great accomplishment to help develop my networking and expertise.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? I have expanded my network through the MBA program. I have met and learned a lot from my classmates and mentors because they all have different expertise and experience. To me, informal networking is critical: Someday, we will all help each other to grow and get dream jobs through referrals.

What is your class’s favorite hangout away from school? Why do you gather there? My classmates and I enjoy the University Village, which has various restaurants and coffee shops. It is also near the apartments where most of my friends live, so it is convenient to hang out there.

What led you to pursue an MBA at this point and what do you hope to do after graduation? I have a great passion for data science, so I am excited to enhance my skills and understanding of this field while broadening my knowledge in business management. I chose the MBA program because I know I will learn a lot from my experienced professors and supportive and talented classmates. After graduation, I am looking forward to following my passion and getting a full-time job at a top tech company, where I will have the knowledge and skills to deliver valuable insights to benefit the organization.
