What makes Atlanta such a great place to earn an MBA? Apart from being the cultural capital of the South, Atlanta hosts the headquarters of many Fortune 500 companies, tech companies, and other large organizations. Networking is one of the most important parts of earning an MBA. Thus, Atlanta stood out for me. Atlanta also offers great entertainment and food that is unparalleled.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Emory Goizueta’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? Being an effective leader has been one of the things that I am looking to develop during my time at business school. What made Goizueta stand out while I was applying to schools was the MBA program’s intense focus on leadership. During the first week of school, we will spend one day at Fort Benning (a US military base) where we will have US military officers teach us about leadership. Further leadership courses, both theoretical and experiential, will follow as the semester progresses.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at Emory Goizueta? I am particularly interested in advancing social mobility at my home country, Jordan, and thus I believe in the power of business to do good and create impact other than focusing on profit. To that end, I am excited to be part of Goizueta Net Impact club, which is a student club that empowers Goizueta students to drive social and environmental change.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: My biggest achievement has been my role in the creation of a USD $400 million hospital and medical university in my country. The hospital will be the first of its kind in Jordan to focus on research and development, as well as to operate medical centers of excellence in five different specialties. The facility will be also affiliated with UCLA Health and UCL, two world-class institutions.

Looking ahead two years, what would make your MBA experience successful? With over 120 students currently in my class, the plethora of experiences and skills that my fellow students will bring are certainly going to be stellar. I look forward to learning from my cohort as much as I can, immersing myself in the great extracurricular activities that Goizueta offers, and of course, learning from the great faculty we have at school.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Emory Goizueta’s MBA program? The two pieces of advice I usually give to prospective applicants is clearly define your goals and be authentic. One of the most important pieces of information Goizueta admission officers look for in applicants are their goals and whether Goizueta can help those applicants in reaching their goals. Prospective applicants also like to think that admission officers are looking for a typical stereotype, and thus they tend to hide their true selves. Be human and let your true self speak!
