What has been your favorite part of Houston so far? Why? I moved to Houston at the end of 2022, so I am still exploring and enjoying the food scene. During my downtime, my wife and I travel to different parts of Houston to try different restaurants.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of the Rice Jones MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? My decision to choose Rice was solidified during the Diversity Preview Weekend I attended before applying. This event allowed me to engage with current students, prospective classmates, and the esteemed faculty and staff of Rice Business. The interactions I had were reflective of the institution’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Witnessing Rice Business’s dedication to attracting and nurturing top-tier talent from various backgrounds resonated with me deeply, affirming the authenticity of their welcoming message, ‘You Belong Here.’

What course, club, or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Rice Jones? I highly value our weekly event, affectionately termed ‘Partio,’ short for ‘party on the patio.’ This gathering is an integral part of my weekly routine, allowing me a moment to relax after a demanding week of coursework. It is an excellent setting to foster relationships with classmates and connect with professionals from various companies, offering enriching networking opportunities.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: As a career counselor in the Navy, I have achieved the major achievement of mentoring over 100 service members. This role allowed me to positively impact individual lives by providing tailored support and guidance for their successful transition from military to civilian life. My efforts facilitated personal and career development for each servicemember and contributed to the broader community by ensuring a smooth reintegration process that benefits society.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? Becoming a Rice Board Fellow for the Urban Enrichment Institute. I pride myself on finding new ways to serve others and wanted to learn more about what goes into running a non-profit organization dedicated to the leadership and development of at-risk males. Being selected for this role allows me to contribute to the empowerment of these young men by fostering their personal growth and leadership skills and providing them with valuable resources for a brighter future.

What has been your best memory as an MBA so far? As a fellow of The Consortium, I was privileged to attend a pre-MBA event in New Orleans. This occasion not only allowed me to meet several of my future classmates, but also provided the chance to discover the unique aspects of the city. Furthermore, the event facilitated the formation of new friendships with peers from various MBA programs and enabled me to engage in networking opportunities with a diverse array of companies.
