Ethical? IIM Ahmedabad MBA Earns A+ on Project Using ChatGPT

Economic Times: “When Yugantar Gupta, an MBA student at IIM Ahmedabad, took to LinkedIn to share how he aced a marketing project using ChatGPT, he probably didn’t expect his post to ignite a philosophical debate on education, effort, and ethics. But the post, which detailed how Gupta earned an A+ grade for a report generated largely by AI, has done just that—prompting applause, scepticism, and a deeper reckoning with what learning truly means in the age of artificial intelligence.

Gupta’s now-viral story begins with a confession: “I wrote my entire project using ChatGPT. It got an A+.” At an institution where top grades are scarce and usually awarded to the crème de la crème, his admission raised more than a few eyebrows.

Unlike his peers slogging through late-night group meetings, Gupta decided to take a different route for his assignment on the cosmetics market. Armed with curiosity and a smartphone, he visited eight retail stores, posed as a customer shopping for a gift, and meticulously recorded every shopper interaction and sales pitch he witnessed. These raw field notes, dictated as voice memos, were then transcribed and handed over to ChatGPT.”

Oxford Eagle: “After 21 years as a faculty member at the UM School of Business Administration, and 17 of those years serving at the helm as dean, Ken Cyree will retire in December 2025.

Cyree, who came to Ole Miss from Texas Tech in 2004 as an associate professor of finance, is the school’s 11th dean and the second-longest serving dean in the school’s history, except for James Warsaw Bell, the school’s founding dean in 1917. University of Portland Removes Business School Namesake Over Fraud Admission

Willamette Week: “The University of Portland’s Pamplin School of Business has a new name—it’s now just the University of Portland School of Business.

The university made the change a few months after its alumnus and sometime benefactor, Dr. Robert Pamplin Jr., admitted to allegations by the U.S. Department of Labor that he’d violated federal laws by selling or transferring more than 100 parcels of property from the R.B. Pamplin Corp. to an affiliated pension fund.

The university did not provide details about the name change in a brief statement that a spokesman provided May 2.

“The association of Dr. Pamplin’s name with the University of Portland School of Business was subject to an agreement that has concluded,” the statement said. The Oregonian first reported the name change.”
