My favorite part has been the weather and the diversity. Toronto’s cooler seasons feel refreshing compared to Jakarta’s hot and humid climate. The diversity in people and culture makes the city feel welcoming. As a bonus, it’s easy to find Asian food that fits my taste buds. Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Toronto Rotman’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? The key programming element that really differentiated Rotman for me was the Self-Development Lab. Rotman builds leadership in a very practical way through feedback-intensive coaching and small-group modules that help you develop essential soft skills, including presence, communication, and effective leaderships. This matters a lot to me because I’m coming from a background where I’ve built strong analytical skills, but I want to level up the ‘executive’ side, such as how I influence senior stakeholders, navigate tough conversations, and navigate team dynamics. What course, club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Toronto Rotman? One of the experiences I’ve enjoyed the most at Rotman so far has been the course Foundations of Strategic Management. It’s especially memorable because as I came in without a formal business background and had never taken a strategy course before, it’s been a great crash course in learning to think like a strategist. The case-method format really stands out as it forces me to think like a decision-maker, weigh real trade-offs with imperfect information, and defend your view in class. The discussions are highly interactive, and debating with classmates has helped me challenge my assumptions and sharpen how I communicate. Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: My biggest accomplishment is leading a US$250mn cross-border sell-side M&A for an Indonesian agribusiness manufacturer. I drove the core execution, including valuation and commercial/financial/tax due diligence, while aligning multiple stakeholders under tight timelines. On the client side, I managed the day-to-day relationship by setting a clear cadence, proactively flagging risks, and translating complex analyses into crisp decision points for senior management. Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? My biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far is winning the RAMA x SLC Portfolio Management Case Competition, where we managed a simulated $500M pension fund mandate. I’m especially proud of the teamwork—we structured the workstream, debated ideas openly, and integrated everything into one clear strategy and presentation. It was a great example of how Rotman pushes you to combine technical thinking with collaboration and communication. What has been your best memory as an MBA so far? My best memory as an MBA so far is not one single event. It is the experience of getting through the semester’s pace and realizing I could thrive in it. The semester has been academically rigorous, and at the same time filled with case studies, case competitions, and constant networking events. What I will remember most is the days of juggling all of that throughout the term. There were late nights preparing with teammates, staying on top of classes, and still showing up consistently to meet people and learn from them. Seeing myself adapt, stay organized, and perform well across the semester has been the most rewarding part for me. Personal and professional development is one of the cornerstones of the Rotman MBA experience. What have you learned about yourself so far and what do you hope to achieve? I’ve learned that networking is a skill I need to build intentionally. I’m naturally analytical, but I have been realizing many opportunities here come from relationships, from being curious, following up, and adding value. By the end of the MBA, I want to be confident building authentic relationships anywhere I go, to have a strong network in any field I’m in, and to become someone who helps others connect.
