1) Boosting regional sales for my company by 200% within 3 months of joining and managing a budget of ~$150,000 so early on. 2) I’ve moved countries around 8 times in my life, so new friends, new environment, new challenges 8 times in 20 years! I am very happy with the way I’ve managed each change and overcome any difficulties in my personal life.
I want to go into Private Equity or Venture Capital Analysis. I would ideally like to be at the forefront of sourcing and funding ideas that will change the world. I have some experience in PE through past internships but would like to hone in on this space.

Hi Mr. International Youngster, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. It’s a bit unclear here if you are planning to apply in the Fall 2020 application pool or as a deferred candidate for a future start. Your December graduation puts you in a middle ground – and if that is a 3-1/2 year graduation – kudos to you! I love that you working through college – this would add to your profile compared to others just coming out of college. Generally speaking programs are looking for their candidates to have 3-5 years of experience, this is so that you have experiences to contribute to the classroom and have a clear picture of how an MBA will help you achieve your goals. If you are applying in Fall 2020 for a Fall 2021 start, you will need to convince admissions that you have experience to contribute and have a clear plan as to why an MBA is the right step for you now vs 3-5 years from now. As a serial mover myself – I understand how living in different countries/locations can teach you much about yourself and others. This might be experience that you use as evidence to your readiness for an MBA program. It sounds like you have some personal experiences to explain why PE/VC. These are very tough field to break into without many years of Operational experience – so this story will need to be compelling and show that you see a viable path to make it happen. Do research – find others that have paved this path. If you are applying to a deferred program (Georgetown is launching theirs in Fall 2020, Emory’s has already existing), you may need to understand how a December graduation affects this. I with a couple years of experience you would have an extremely competitive profile – but my chances are based on your applying in a traditional (non-deferred) program with less than average work experience. Reach out if I can answer any other questions. Best of luck!
