I had a good profile but was not confident about getting into a Top-5 school. My hectic schedule was not allowing me ample time to focus on my applications. However, I was aiming high and Kellogg was my dream school. Rajdeep encouraged me and helped me gain confidence in my abilities.

I started working on MBA applications in round 2 and was a bit apprehensive on working with a consultant because of experiences my friends had reported. Working in an unconventional (Oil and Gas) job, I wanted someone who could understand the nuances of my job and guide me how to reflect that in my application essays.

I had been admitted to a couple of colleges in the previous year, but I thought it was possible to do better. My feedback from Tuck had been about my story being convoluted. Speaking with Chimni further gave me the confidence that he would add a lot of value in my application strategy and with crafting the story/narrative.

Working with Rajdeep on my resume was the defining moment of my MBA application journey. After getting rejected without interview from all the B-Schools that I applied to during the 2016 cycle, I approached Rajdeep who helped me realize the strategic impact of my work-experience during the resume building process.

After speaking to multiple students even consultants many suggested that I change my story and put in a consulting focus to make it more saleable to ad-coms. This did not ring true to me and I was uncomfortable with digressing from the main text. When I spoke to Chimni at Admissions Gateway he gave me the confidence to pursue my “Start-up theme” while showcasing how we could give it strategic direction.

My GPA was a little on the lower side. Moreover, professionally I had been working with start-ups and not with a McKinsey or Goldman which are feeders to the top B Schools. The next step was figuring out the strategic aspects (rather than technical) of what I had done so far and how the same should be presented.

My biggest take away from the whole application process which I feel will serve me well for the rest of my life is to be concise and make an objective assessment of what ones story is, so that at end of it all it makes sense to the reader.

Chimni gave advice on knowing the schools as if I had spent a week there and so I really did intensive research. This helped me evaluate fit and also identify how I could contribute to schools. This eventually helped position my story specific to the school resulting in multiple admits. I applied to 5 schools and secured admits to Kellogg, Stern and Ross and am really enjoying my time at Kellogg.

After talking to friends and students I decided to work with Chimni. He helped outline an exhaustive plan leading up to the deadlines spanning 6-7 months so that one could map everything out. What stood out for me was that the resume was customized as per ones goals and thus a consulting resume was different from say product management. My resume took close to 22 iterations but I was happy with the final result as I learnt how to portray my experiences.

We then worked on outlining the goals. Usually you have an overall goal but we went into the specifics like which industry, how to align this with my profile, what skills I need etc. The most important part was the essays and interviews and this is Chimni’s biggest strength. In multiple conversations with past applicants/current b-school students, Rajdeep Chimni’s name was a constant as the go-to consultant. I was a second MBA applicant and a friend at Stern referred me to Rajdeep. The end-to-end ownership Rajdeep took for the process was remarkable. Having spent more than 10 years in the industry and having led large teams, I thought I had a very good idea of what a successful MBA application should contain. This notion lasted till I interacted with Rajdeep.

I am a double MBA candidate and I was very sceptical regarding my candidacy in Top 10 schools. I was working in the field of retail and operations so did not have the typical big brand feeder companies on my resume.

I am sharing some observations for each part of the process:

· Resume building: Chimni was thorough in helping me build the resume. He gave me a structured approach to think about each bullet point in detail. He guided me to reflect on my work and make it look strategic as compared to operational. After this, all essays, interview answers and stories derived were clear to me.

· School selection: Already holding an MBA, I was more focused on the top-10. Chimni was earnest in his evaluation and ensured that I pick schools that meet my ambitions and fit well. He is methodological in his approach and provides logical reasoning behind each choice. For e.g. My Husband had got into a top-25 college but Chimni felt that he could make a top-10 so my husband worked with Rajdeep the next year and gained admission to Duke.

· Essay writing: Chimni gave solid frameworks for each essay question and guided me in detail as to think through my own content. He worked on as many iterations as it took to develop a satisfactory essay. His guidance helped me retain a unique voice and be comfortable with everything that has gone into the application.

· Interview preparation: Chimni helped with resources including connecting with students who have gone through the process to learn about their experience. This was followed by mock interviews, which covered everything that was asked in any of my interviews.

What I experienced working with my consultant is that if you are giving your 100% he will give his 200%. I gained an admission to Kellogg and am excited about attending!

I reapplied to business schools in 2017-18 after working with a well known US consultant the previous year. When I planned to reapply, I spoke to many consultants. I remember Chimni being the only one who asked me for my previous applications and discussed my essays and goals in detail. Chimni’s genuineness and unselfishness were clearly reflected as he spared more than an hour with me, though we had not started working together. (Our association was still not finalized).

Few things that stood out for me:

1) Structure: The entire process starting from recommendation to essays is neatly structured that brings predictability to the process and helps plan things. Chimni helped me better research the school as well as leveraged his vast personal network to connect with relevant people, which makes the content rich.

2) Personal involvement: Chimni was personally involved till the end. This brings confidence in the applicant as well as continuity to the overall process. It also helps you in the applications of other schools I was now working with Chimni on as he suggested things given that, through multiple interactions, he started knowing me well – personally as well as professionally. In one instance he even went out of his way and helped me with something that was not in our scope of work even though we were in the middle of the deadlines.

3) Availability: Working on multiple schools with different formats along with work puts you in a situation where many times you have doubts that immediately need to be addressed. Chimni would be available (over a call or Whatsapp) to listen to me and that brings a lot of comfort.

4) Good knowledge of the school process: For Kellogg, once the written application was submitted, Chimni’s guidance on the video interview as well as the interview with Alumni was to the point and helped a great deal during preparations as well as in delivery.

I got into Kellogg with $70K in scholarship this year and would really recommend people to talk to Chimni and get his perspective on their profiles.

I started my campaign in R2 and applied to 4 schools with Rajdeep. A couple of things that stood out:

1. Honest Feedback – Rajdeep was very honest throughout the process. His candid feedback was very useful in crafting a compelling application.

2. Focus on introspection – Rajdeep’s inputs helped to make my resume more ‘achievements focused’. My most significant achievements turned out to be things I had not thought of mentioning. The resume building exercise was helpful in identifying what I should highlight in the essays. We then worked on my goals. With 5 years of experience, I was sure of what my goals are and why I needed to go to business school again. However, Rajdeep encouraged me to research extensively, define clearly what I wanted to achieve both in the short and long term.

3. Setting Realistic expectations – Rajdeep’s experience of working with similar candidates before helped to set realistic expectations/ goals.

4. Professional approach – Rajdeep was very professional and ensured we stayed on schedule, even if it meant late night calls and super quick turnarounds of essay reviews. Although, I had signed up for a 3-school package, he helped review essays for the 4th school which I appreciated.

I received interview invites from all the 4 schools I had applied (Kellogg, Wharton, INSEAD, Michigan Ross). I was accepted to Wharton, Kellogg, Ross with $$ and withdrew my application from INSEAD.

I worked with Eli two years ago when I was doing my MBA research. Eli called me on an Israeli holiday and we had a long conversation about choosing schools to apply for and building strategy together. Eli connected me with students from many business schools to help me make my decision.
After choosing schools, Eli worked with me days and nights to make sure that my application is perfect. Although I had a tight timeline, we made it happen and I was admitted to Fuqua on the early round.

I worked with Rajdeep on my resume and as promised it went from a 2/10 resume to an 8/10. Rajdeep has an extremely structured approach to the resume building process and spends a good amount of time understanding your company’s business, your role, and how has it evolved over your career. He then gives you steller examples from your kind of industry and profile explaining how the same projects can be depicted as a bad and good bullet point on your resume. There are a lot of approaches to building a resume but his concise format that you can fit into 1 page and his formula for distributing the different resume sections in proportion to your number of work experience was really helpful for me. He was very clear in his instructions about thinking all projects from a results and impact perspective right at the start of the resume building process. This helped me do relevant kinds of thinking and research. Lastly he does not sign off on your resume until each word on it serves it’s purpose. I maybe had 8 rounds of reviews and re-reviews with him. In the course he would tirelessly explain his perspective on what was missing in each of the bullet points (sometimes multiple times).

I would strongly recommend Chimni to any candidate. He gave me a very honest review even before I used his services. Since I was not sure if he could help, Chimni looked at my application and advised me to what degree I would need help.

In my case, my resume was fine, but my essays needed work. In fact, I applied to some of the top-5 universities as advised. This level of freedom, which Rajdeep afforded me without losing sight of the end goal was the highlight of working with him because it helped me express myself in a far more nuanced manner.

The best thing, however, about engaging with Rajdeep was how enjoyable he had made this otherwise arduous process seem and this is exactly the reason why I would say that engaging with him was one of the best decisions that I made.

I was a re-applicant and given that I had applied in Round 2 last year and didn’t get through most colleges I was inclined to switch jobs or take a break.

Tuck generally tends higher on work experience and the result shows that I was able to really make the most of my limited tenure and showcase the value I bring as a younger candidate.

I had decided quite late in the application cycle to go for an MBA. Having made my decision in September, I had already missed the round 1 deadlines. By building out my leadership examples into a STAR format, I was easily able to customize my answers and tackle any question thrown at me. This helped me remain informative while making my answers concise. Finally I got a much better result that I had hoped for – I got into 3 (Wharton, Kellogg and Ross) schools in a single round, with significant scholarships.

To be frank I was hesitant if an admissions consultant would be a great help as I wanted personalized attention. But early in the process with Chimni it was clear that he had my best interest at heart!

The process was extremely organized and flexible which made it so comfortable to work on my applications despite my frequent 12 hour workdays. I got a much better understanding of my work, goals and professional development areas.

There was always a focus on planning all scenarios and constantly learning and improving. Overall, it was supremely satisfactory and a journey of deep introspection and self-discovery. My 3 admits stand proof to that.

I first heard of Rajdeep from friends and my opinion post my conversation with Rajdeep was that he was very direct and knew the weaknesses in my profile. It is important for consultants to be forthright and practical about what your strengths and weaknesses are. My experience of working with the team was amazing and I would like to highlight a few things that stood out.

Firstly, the flexibility with which the entire application process was rolled out. There were times when I was working on my resume and essays at 1:30 am with Rajdeep. It really helps to have access to your consultant when you have a hectic day long work schedule. Other than that Rajdeep pushes you to think hard about the entire application, starting from the resume to essays. We sometimes had more than 15 iterations and I believe Rajdeep understands how to extract the best from the applicant on their personal and professional achievements.

The third thing is that Rajdeep treats your application as his own, paying attention to the minutest of details and this gives you the confidence and comfort that he is always there to help. Finally, the team has in-depth knowledge on all aspects of the process from planning the resume to essay strategy; everything is planned meticulously and led to my admissions to Kellogg with the FC Austin $100K scholarship and Harvard with $100,000 scholarship.

I am a consultant with 3 years experience post completing my Bachelors in Economics. I was apprehensive about my lack of client facing experience, and the way my role would be perceived by B schools. I also had decisions to make regarding switching to a different role, choosing an externship vs. transfer, and on building my application to target a Top 10 school.

Pre-application:
When I first spoke to Chimni on the phone, I was impressed by his in depth-knowledge of my company (top consulting firm) and my specific role! He asked pointed questions about my daily operations, how my practice has grown and helped steer me to thinking about my story. He also met me at his office over the weekend, and helped me chart my plan of action for the next year, without me even being a client at the time. He was very calm and analytical, drawing up my school strategy and going bucket by bucket from job to academics to ECA to social impact and told me what to target to get to different categories of schools. We came up with a check list that kept me on track 1.5 years before I came on board as a client!

During applications:
Chimni helped me focus on cracking my resume. I faced roadblocks on quantifiable impact in my role where we have limited visibility on it, and we worked together on brainstorming for proxies, alternative sources for numbers etc. He challenged me to simplify and add numbers behind my assertions, and work on numerous drafts to get it right. What I really appreciated also was that we worked as a team; many times my apps would be left behind because I was busy with work, and he really checked me and kept me on track.
When my essays were not whipping up in round 1, he helped me rejig my school strategy accordingly. We did Ross which has simpler essays in round 1 and I secured 100% scholarship. With the boost from Ross we applied to Tuck, LBS, Wharton, Kellogg and Booth.
Holding off allowed me the space and timing to work out how to write my essays in an authentic and impact oriented way, and Chimni was really able to outline for me the approach. He coached me in detail for my interviews as well, and gave me structured pointers where I felt I wasn’t able to answer well. The debriefs after every interview where Chimni debugged any questions I had were helpful in me improving with every interview. He provided school and even interviewer specific advice, which was insightful and allowed me to go in prepared. For Wharton in particular, he even organised a Skype meet for all interviewees with round 1 admits on tips and what to expect which was really helpful.
Chimni has a personal and thorough yet team based approached, oceans of experience and pointed advice. I was also admitted to Tuck and Wharton and will be attending Wharton.

Rajdeep has been incredibly supportive during my entire admissions journey, even during the time when I was not his client. In my first interaction with Rajdeep, about 4 months before the R1 deadline, he did a detailed evaluation of my profile and provided insightful opinion on the things that I could do in the coming months. I was looking for a change of job at that point in time, which he in his amazing convincing manner, advised against. Even though I went ahead and followed his advice, I didn’t sign up to work with him initially. Instead, I was flattered by the sales skills of another US based group and signed up with them.

By the time I realised that the application process with the US consultant wasn’t really working out, I had only 1 month left for the R1 deadline. After a lot of deliberation, I reached out to Rajdeep again. I wrote to him to ask if we could work together for R1 or if he could at-least look at my applications and advise if I should go ahead or postpone my submissions to R2. Rajdeep was very honest and he mentioned that he wouldn’t be able to do justice with my application in such a short time. I loved working with Chimni. Three things stood out for me during the entire process. Firstly, the methodological approach in which Chimni broke down the essay question into smaller parts. Now I will delve into the stages in the application process:

1. GMAT Score: In my first attempt, my score was 680. My consultant highlighted the importance of a good GMAT score and how it will play a critical role. He not only pushed me to try another time but also guided me to focus on my weak areas. This resulted in a 740 in one month’s time.

2. Writing a resume: Chimni had me run 6 or more iterations in my resume. He followed a structured approach focusing primarily on strategic points. He then guided me to bring out stories, making an impact, possibly long lasting, in the organization.

3. Writing essays: Chimni was very skilled in helping shape my thought process. He consistently highlighted the need to reach out to alums, current students, and professors etc. to ask questions and seek answers. This helped me in putting my best foot forward in my essays. Further, there were stories which I didn’t feel were important but he suggested otherwise and vice versa. These suggestions helped me in writing good essays.

4. Interview: The guidelines provided by Admissions Gateway helped in acing interviews. Chimni shared an online video with 3 frameworks regarding responses to the questions posed in the interview. It was extremely useful to me since I could now structure and articulate my thoughts well.

My fiancée also worked with Chimni and attended Yale; he is definitely one of the best.

Absolutely loved the conference call organized by Rajdeep and team for tips and insights from successful applicants on team-based discussion round of Wharton. I would say it played a big role in my success. I also liked the fact that there was last-minute advice even on the day of the TBD and help with connecting with all other applicants involved.
