Consultant Bio

I’ve been helping students with applications for 20+ years. I love working with clients to discover what makes each unique, and how to craft their story to stand out with admissions officers.

As Editor of The Harbus (the HBS newspaper) while a student, and former President of a literary magazine and publishing company, my skills as a writer and storyteller help my clients secure offers from top schools including HBS, Wharton, Booth, Haas, INSEAD, and many more. I’ve also successfully supported applicants for specialty programs including dual degrees, deferred, executive and part-time programs. My direct, honest, and supportive style leads to success!

Aside from admissions work, I have significant experience as an executive across multiple industries. In addition to working in investment banking at Credit Suisse and in consulting at Bain, I’ve founded several companies including a chain of wine bars, and held executive positions for both start-ups and larger companies, including a publicly traded e-commerce company where I led a division of 750 employees.

I’m also an active volunteer who dedicates time to mentor start-up entrepreneurs, support women in business, and work with low-income communities on resumes and mock interviews. I provide applicants with insight into best interviewing practices since I’ve led the recruiting programs for several companies, accelerators, and VC firms, and conducted interviews for Harvard and Wellesley.

I received a BA from Wellesley College in Chinese Studies. While earning my MBA from HBS, and in addition to serving as Editor of The Harbus, I was VP of The Women’s Student Association, and received both the President’s award for graduating student and a Harvard fellowship that provided funds for tuition.

I’m currently splitting time between Arizona and Washington State, with frequent stints to visit family on the east coast.

  • Couldn't Have Done It Without Allison!
Working with Allison was a game-changer for my MBA applications! She’s incredibly focused and efficient, doesn’t waste time on things that don’t matter and instead zeroes in on exactly what schools are looking for. What really sets her apart is her ability to connect the dots and help you tell a cohesive story. She helped me see patterns in my own background that I hadn’t recognized and turned them into a clear narrative. Allison is also super candid and honest. She gives direct feedback on what’s working, what isn’t, and why. She pushed me to dig deeper, challenged vague answers, and made sure every essay had real purpose and clarity. I was accepted to Booth and LBS, and I couldn’t have done it without her. If ...

  • An Incredible, Authentic, & Practical Consultant
    2 months ago
My experience with Allison was truly outstanding. I come from a boutique consulting background and pursued an MBA to broaden and deepen my skill set, as well as to use it as a launchpad for my long-term career goals. I applied R1 exclusively to HBS, Wharton, and Stanford, a strategy I knew was ambitious and inherently risky. From the outset, Allison clearly walked me through those risks while helping me make an informed and confident decision. What made my experience with Allison so fantastic was her structured and thoughtful approach to the entire process. We began by clarifying my career goals and strengthening my resume, then moved systematically into each school’s essays and short answers. Her guidance brought clarity, focus, and rigor to every step, while ...

  • 10 Out Of 10 Experience

Allison was THE reason I was accepted into so many schools! I owe her so much. She was incredibly responsive, willing to work with me any day of the week, with tight turnaround times for reviews. What I appreciated the most is that she was incredibly open and honest. If an essay wasn't my best work, she would tell me - I needed that! She helped me navigate such a difficult and anxiety-filled process with comfort and ease, and ended up being a huge success. She didn't just tell me what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear. I come from an MBB background where I was a dime a dozen when applying to top MBA programs. I was fortunate enough to ...

  • Excellent Coach & Advocate
I connected with Allison after an initial application attempt that ended in multiple waitlists and rejections. I remained persistent and looked to her to help me understand how I needed to improve. Her honesty and directness stood out to me in our first meeting and benefited me through the application process. Her clear direction is what empowered me to increase my GRE score, take a supplemental math course, and improve pretty much every other part of my application. The part of working with Allison I valued most was her ability to identify my blind spots and willingness to push back on my thinking and assumptions. While others had told me what I "wanted" to hear, Allison told me the truth. This was exactly what I needed ...

  • Great Experience Working With Allison!
I've worked with Allison for 2 application cycles. I came to Allison last minute to finish my R1 application 2 years ago. Even given the extremely short time frame, Allison helped me re-positioned my main essay and we worked around the clock to meet the deadline and I ended up getting a HBS interview. I was grateful for that experience and while that 1st year didn't work out in the end, I reached out to Allison again this year and finally received a dream offer. Allison is direct yet thoughtful, and always provides timely feedback. I highly recommend working with Allison if you dream big and high!

  • Allison Knows All
Personality Fit: Allison is great at giving you straightforward, no-nonsense advice. She wastes no time and our meetings were very succinct-- you've got essays to write, after all! Personal Needs: I wasn't sure which schools I wanted to apply to and her insight on balancing timelines, personal capacity, and my niche interests helped clear the way. I'm also a younger candidate (2.5 years out of college when I applied) and my background is in politics, NGOs, and freelancing with tech start ups, so not your classic IB track. Essays: MBA application essays are so different from the undergrad Common App or even my friends' essays to law school. That was not intuitive for me, so having Allison lay out clear expectations and provide edits was a ...

  • Highly Recommend To Work With Allison
    3 years ago
I worked with Allison on an hourly basis for my MBA applications - and received interview invites in 4 out of 5 highly selective programs (including Stanford). What sets Allison apart -- I've previously worked with several other consultants and am thus somewhat qualified to make this distinction -- is her ability to focus on key aspects of one's profile. Often, applicants have the urge to include as many details as possible, regardless of how small, which then ends up diluting attention away from key differentiators. Allison will help you avoid this suboptimal path -- and it's truly been a pleasure to work with her.

  • Excelente!!!!
As a younger person who was interested in deferred MBA schools, I had so much trouble finding information or people to help me. I felt overwhelmed so a friend who got into the HBS 2+2 a couple of years ago introduced me to Allison. Oh my gosh! I'm so lucky that I met her! Not only is she really experienced with applications, but she's also really helpful. She helped me figure out what programs to apply to with my interests and profile, helped me create really strong applications, and was there for me whenever I was worried. She gave me the confidence I needed. She also helped me with interviews. One thing I really appreciated was the little things she pointed out to make me ...

  • Stellar!
I am an older, untraditional candidate. Even though I've had success in my career, I always dreamed of returning to school for an MBA. Yet, I had no idea where to start. Allison helped me sift through options in a very clear way, determine which programs were the best fit, and was with me every step of the way through the application process. She's honest, efficient, and effective! I really appreciated her insight and knowledge. She's also supportive and even during times, I doubted my own candidacy she gave me the confidence I needed. I'm headed to SAID, by top choice, and couldn't be happier. This is a life-changing opportunity for me and I owe it to her.

  • The BEST Consultant!!!
Allison is AMAZING. I worked with other consultants before switching to her. Unlike the others, she was honest with me and really helped me see things about myself and my background that would make me stand out and mitigate any weaknesses. She really cares, and wants to help- even when I struggled with my essays she was there to listen and give amazing suggestions and guidance - and helped to correct my grammar too ;0. She's incredibly knowledgeable about admissions and the process and I'm 100% certain that her insights about the best essay topics and how to position myself are what got me accepted. She's also really accomplished so she's able to give great career advice too, and helped me think deeper about my ...
