Katty Ooms-Suter

Consultant Bio

Before starting her own venture, Katty was the Director of Marketing, Admissions, and Career Services for IMD, a worldwide top-ranked MBA program based in Switzerland. At IMD, she led a multi-cultural team to design and implement innovative marketing strategies and provide world-class admissions and career services for the MBA program. One of her first projects at IMD was to revamp the admissions process to fit IMD’s repositioning. With her team, she put one of the toughest admissions programs in place: a five-step process which does not only look at written applications, but actually runs every candidate through a full-day assessment center, testing their soft skills as well as hard skills, fit and motivation.

Katty is passionate about attracting and identifying the best possible talent globally, and helping them to define and achieve their career aspirations. She was also a board member of the MBA Career Services Counsel. Katty started her career in marketing at Procter & Gamble in the United States as part of the Folgers brand management team. She then went to Switzerland to manage the Vicks brand and later moved on to lead all marketing activities in the Hair Care, Personal Cleansing and Male Toiletries categories for P&G Switzerland — 12 brands in total. Prior to joining IMD in 2001, Katty was also a professor of marketing at Webster University in Geneva — teaching MBA, graduate, and undergraduate students — and a professor of hospitality marketing at EHL, where she was responsible for designing and teaching the marketing curriculum in their new Bachelor’s degree program.

Katty specializes in admissions consulting for international candidates; for those on non-traditional career paths; and for those with low GPAs/GMAT scores.

Katty grew up in Belgium, and after obtaining a BS in Mathematics and an MS in Computer Science at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), she received a Fulbright-Hays scholarship to get her MS in Management from North Carolina State University. She is married to a Swiss national with whom she runs a household of two teenagers, three cats and a dog. She is also fluent in Dutch, English and French and has working knowledge of German.
