Scott’s MBA admissions knowledge was gained at Wharton, where he was a Senior Admissions Counselor and sat on the Admissions Committee for the MBA Program for Executives while his wife earned her MBA in the full-time program. This gave him the chance to read hundreds of applications, interview 300+ applicants, and even write one of the application essay questions.
Sitting down with Wharton hopefuls to learn about their career journeys sparked a passion for career coaching that next led Scott to UT-Austin, where he coached 1,000+ MBAs to roles at dream companies in PE, VC, tech, consulting, and finance, and served as the lead coach for Consortium and ROMBA students. He later joined Forté Foundation, the largest non-profit supporting MBA women globally, where he built Forté’s alumni platform, owned the Global Board Ready Women executive search initiative, and led gender equity allyship trainings at top bschools like Wharton, Yale, Darden, and Vanderbilt.
Scott’s unique blend of tangible admissions committee experience, career coaching knowledge, and skillsets as a writing tutor and published poet help his clients find measurable success well beyond bschool acceptance. He is passionate about providing consulting that retains value beyond the admissions process itself and prepares his clients for the next 20 years in addition to the next one to two.

I had a great experience working with Scott – very helpful suggestions throughout the process and efficient and responsive as well. Overall, I would definitely recommend working with Scott. I was admitted to both schools I applied to/worked with Scott on, with generous scholarships as well.
I was very skeptical of working with a consultant at first, and had intro calls with ~8 people. They were by and large transactional, cut and dry. Scott blew away any skepticism I had: he was impressively quick in identifying the most interesting contours of my story, and ideating a creative strategy to weave them together. And more importantly, he was authentic and invested. I opted for just a few hours of his time, and wish I got more. He was full of brilliant, creative ideas and suggestions – both high strokes and in the weeds of the essays – and showed me so much authentic care and support in what was an arduous rollercoaster of a process. I’ll be starting a dual degree (MBA/policy) at an M7 with a great financial aid package and couldn’t be happier with the outcome, and to have had Scott’s partnership in the process.
After struggling with addiction for most of my 20’s, I didn’t begin my career until age 28. Scott helped me craft a compelling narrative that acknowledged my personal and legal challenges as strengths, while providing crucial and insightful framework concerning how AdComs view different profiles. In addition to the application hand-holding and narrative reframing, Scott acted as confidant, and at times a therapist as well. The MBA application process is inherently stressful and time consuming, but our weekly 1 hour debrief never failed to re-charge my focus and confidence. I applied at the less-than-desirable (at least in the eyes of AdComs) age of 33 as a straight while male in finance with average hard stats, and just 5 years of work history. I will be matriculating this year at HSW in their full-time program during one of the most competitive cycles in recent memory. Explicitly stated, I don’t think my outcome would have been possible without Scott.
I worked with Scott on multiple MBA applications and interview prep. Throughout, his feedback was direct, encouraging, and, most importantly, insightful. His thoughtful advice helped me translate my background and experiences into a compelling narrative for the admissions committees and made my applications MUCH stronger overall. Furthermore, Scott was very respectful of my time and budget and never pushed me to buy more consulting hours than necessary. Ultimately, I count myself very lucky to have gotten to work with Scott and can’t recommend him enough.
Scott stood out amongst a group of consultants I spoke to and worked with. Scott’s thoroughness and detail in his commentary was amazing and very helpful. His work ethic and attitude was unparalled and rare in this industry. If I had the opportunity to do so, I would recommend Scott to someone 10/10 times. Very pleased with this experience overall!
I worked with Scott to help with my essay prep for my MBA application. He was excellent in every way. Efficient, responsive, and had great suggestions. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
I consulted with six different MBA advisors before ultimately choosing Scott for assistance with my Executive MBA application. What stood out to me about Scott was his extensive knowledge and experience in the MBA domain. Beyond his expertise, I appreciated his genuine approach—unlike others, he didn’t attempt to sell more consulting hours than necessary. I opted for just four hours of his time to review my essays and resumes for two schools, a significantly more cost-effective choice compared to other consultants’ quotes. Scott’s insights significantly enhanced my application materials and played a crucial role in setting me apart in the application process. Much appreciation, Scott!
Scott embodies all of the characteristics one should look for in an admissions consultant; knowledgeable, direct, and a great listener. During my admissions cycle he guided me on every aspect of the application process from helping me guide my recommenders, to tailored application essays based on the core values of each program, and how to approach programs that have accepted me when I had competing scholarship offers.
I was able to put my best overall application together with his guidance and when the results came in I was accepted to 3 of the 4 schools that I applied to. His support did not stop there, he assisted me in the decision making process while being able to compare the ranking of schools along with the scholarship amount awarded.
After a long and intensive research process on MBA admissions consulting spiraled into a multi-month state of analysis paralysis, I found Scott. Little did I know at the time, I had found a partner in the MBA application process who would help shape both my applications and my actual MBA experience.
To get the basics out of the way, Scott nails the day-to-day interaction necessary for a successful application process. He answers emails promptly, his infectious smile is audible on the phone, and his knowledge of the admissions process is top-notch.
My work experience put me squarely into the category of “generic straight white private equity bro,” or so I thought. Scott gave me the confidence to emphasize those parts of my application that were unique. While I am, in fact, basic, Scott helped me see that it isn’t particularly generic to have ridden over 500 SoulCycle classes— resulting in an essay that (in various forms) was a lynchpin of my profile at every school I applied to. Scott allowed my voice to come through in applications, which ultimately allowed me to matriculate at the program best suited to my (many) quirks.
I was admitted to Booth, Kellogg, and Wharton, and I matriculated at Wharton with a partial fellowship. Going three-for-three on my target schools was obviously an amazing outcome, but what really stuck with me was Scott’s enthusiasm and incredibly positive attitude. His demeanor and his advice through the application process gave me the confidence to push myself out of my comfort zone repeatedly throughout my MBA.
Choosing a consultant is a seemingly low-leverage decision—surely writing advice and knowledge of the admissions process must be commoditized. For the folks at Wharton who had 4.0s from Stanford, I’m sure that was true. Finding a consultant who can help you see the positives in yourself, and who can give you the confidence to express them in an interview setting, is an incredibly high-leverage decision. I’m just fortunate to have found exactly that with Scott.
Scott’s guidance was critical to my MBA application process. More than anything, Scott was able to push me to put my best and most complete self on display for my candidacy. His approach to resume enhancement creates active, impactful takeaways for AdCom reviewers to evaluate. His essay review and dissection is top notch, owing to his formal writing training and prior work in admissions. Scott always made himself available to me for scheduling and it was clear that he prioritized our sessions through his turnaround times and preparedness. I believe that my work with Scott made the difference in receiving scholarship offers, and I would recommend working with him to achieve similar outcomes.
Prior to attending business school, I had the privilege of working with Scott Brownlee and I cannot express enough how instrumental he was in transforming what could have been a disastrous MBA application journey into an empowering and uplifting success. From our first interaction, Scott’s dedication, expertise, and genuine support were evident, making him an invaluable consultant throughout the entire process.
Crafting and articulating a compelling narrative is crucial for MBA applications, and Scott helped me excel in this area. He helped me thoroughly explain my why MBA, why now and why whichever school to which I was applying. With his attention to detail and astute guidance, he helped me delve deep into my personal and professional experiences, allowing me to uncover the essence of my journey and articulate it with authenticity.
Scott’s belief in my potential played a crucial role in my MBA application process! Despite my GRE scores falling below the average for my target schools, Scott instilled in me the confidence and assurance that success was within reach. He meticulously analyzed my app profile, identified my strengths, and helped me highlight them throughout my application.
With all of that said, definitely book with Scott!
