Hi, this is Deepak Punwani from MBA Exchange. Its nice to have a look at your profile and like the adcom, have deep respect for your work in the army. You have a lot going for you. Great experience in the army and also in diplomatic mission. And combine that with stellar academics. You would have picked a lot of leadership skills during your stint in the army and if you can position those well, you should be in play at most of the schools. An interest in sports and general fitness is an additional trait that you can leverage. Your age will be a definite factor but we have seen that applicants from the forces are generally older. Therefore you will need to choose schools strategically ie choose those who value your experience the most and dare I say that INSEAD may not be the best school for your goals. Like your profile and if you can show the adcom that you have some unique skills and you bring a different perspective to class, you have a very good shot at few of top 10 schools (which value older applicants). Good luck.
Hi Mr. Army Guy, this is Julie-Anne Heafey with mbaMission. US school ad coms really respect the military and your stats look great compared with IESE averages…. however I do notice that the average experience there is 4 years, which means that they will wonder why you are looking at the regular MBA and not their Global or EMBA programs (if that’s the case). You’re a little closer to the average experience at HEC (6 years), with an average age of 30, so you may find a better fit there. MIT and Booth may be tougher – you are just slightly over those GMAT averages and many people from India apply with incredible stats, so you are likely held to a higher standard. …

If you decide to go for US schools, add a few more schools outside the M7 to your list where your 740 will go farther, perhaps Duke or Darden? Best of luck!
