I’m a well rounded engineer working in consulting with solid financial, project management and engineering fundamentals. – I recently transitioned from a Big4 firm to MBB. – It’s not much, but I’m in the progress of teaching myself web dev and app development tech and frameworks. Coming from a mechanical background this is all very different to me but the progress is good and I’m proud of myself for continuous learning even outside of school.
I know I’m a bit early but I’m probably going for Sloan’s class of 2025 LGO program as I want a MS and an MBA. I’m looking to become a technical project manager after MBA/MS and eventually a c-suite executive at a tech firm that makes physical products, preferably automotive. *correction, class of 2025 not class of 2023.

You may be young but you are clearl on the right path, checking just about every box necessary for an admit to MIT Sloan. You have the raw stats with a jumbo GMAT score to boot from a prestigious undergraduate institution in a rigorous subject, mechanical engineering. You landed a solid job and then quickly leveraged it into one of the world’s most prestigious global consulting firms. And by the looks of your profile, you are the early bird that catches the worm. Your post-MBA goal shows you to be a person with clear direction. If there’s something lacking here it would be in your extras, particularly if you want a real shot at Stanford. You need to find an extracurricular passion and throw yourself into it during your spare time. Ideally, you want to be a leader, not merely a volunteer and you want to help others to show that your ambitions are not merely for yourself but for others. Otherwise, you are very nearly the perfect candidate for your first choice school.
Hi Mr. “Can-Do” Consulting Engineer, Melisa here from Stratus Admissions. I have recently become a recent Fast and the Furious fan, so intrigued by your junkcar racing – I can almost see your 1 minute video from a racecar! But if you decide to do this, make sure audio is good – this is more important than interesting videos! As John mentioned, you have a very strong profile – and as a candidate with fewer years of experience it will be even more important for you to talk about your leadership potential and impact that you have had in your career or community to date. MIT is a school that looks at your past success as the best indicator of your future success – this is my biggest concern with applicants of lower years of experience. You need to be able to show that you have over indexed on impact and leadership within experience. Your founder experience and self-initiated learning on web development will be benefits to your application. Were you involved in extracurriculars at Northwestern? While this won’t be enough in itself, it will show that you were an involved student and most likely will be again. I am a big fan of the LGO program and think that you are a good candidate for this dual degree. I might not be quite as optimistic as John for your chances this year – but think it is worth applying for sure. Worst case, you re-apply next year, with another year of experience and potentially greater community involvement. Best of luck to you!
