I like you and I believe Kelley will, too. The fact that you landed a job in Italy after your graduation from Gujarat, the fact that you founded a nonprofit that now has more than 100 clients, and the fact that you are fluent in four languages is really impressive. Your goal to transition into product management can be achieved at Kelley and while your 630 GMAT score will give them pause, your actual accomplishments should help to offset it. Obviously, you would greatly improve your odds if you retook the GMAT and aimed closer to Kelley’s class average of 666. You have to know that Kelley wants to go in the opposite direction on GMATs, meaning the school is trying hard to get that …

You have to know that Kelley wants to go in the opposite direction on GMATs, meaning the school is trying hard to get that average up. So you’re being at 630, 36 points below, when Kelley needs to move that number up, is not a good place to be. A higher score would not only boost your odds; it would also increase your chance of scholarship money.
Hello Mr. Educator! Thanks for posting. Krista Nannery from mbaMission here. I have so many questions for you, and I think b-schools will too. Why the switch to product management in tech? What’s the connection between teaching and product management in tech? While b-schools understand that many students use the MBA to switch careers, I’d love for there to be a golden thread that ties this all together. What about EdTech? I’m sure there are EdTech firms out there who would LOVE to have a former teacher and MBA on staff! And then that lines you up to start your own school longer-term. I think Kelley is a solid choice for you given your non-traditional background and current stats but I’d love to see you get …

I think Kelley is a solid choice for you given your non-traditional background and current stats but I’d love to see you get your GMAT score up to Kelley’s average to make this an easier process for you. My guess is that your Quant score might already be pretty high? (47+?) If so, you’re my favorite sort of candidate because all you have to do is focus on verbal. Drill drill drill! (Lower odds here from me because of the 630. Get that GMAT up and the odds go up too!) All the best, Krista
