Looking to accelerate my career in a corporate strategy role, with long term goals of serving as a COO or CEO. Hi Mr. Ex-Manufacturing, Kristen from MBA Prep School here. As a former MIT Sloan adcom, you are the type of candidate I would have rooted for in the admissions process. Your 3.9 in supply chain management and superb extracurricular involvement at UT Austin displays a person with balance; you have a strategic mindset as well as empathy for others. I also really like your advocacy for LGBT rights and representation; you’ve taken a personal passion and used it to help others. Professionally you’ve experienced career progression at reputable companies and your professional wins show clear, quantifiable impact. You are obviously an employee of value! Your career plans show thought and self-awareness, and are very realistic. Because your main target program is Wharton, I have to say that a major point holding you back here is your GMAT score. Your score is a full 20 points below their class average. Although top MBA programs do accept candidates with lower scores, this is often only in exceptional cases where the applicant brings something truly unique and special to the class. Kellogg would be a solid fit for you, your GMAT would still be on the low end but I think your background would be more valued there. Ross, Fuqua, and even Yale SOM would be solid choices. And if you retake the GMAT or even attempt the GRE I think you would really increase your chances! Please let me know if you would like to chat further, I’m happy to offer you a complimentary consultation to dig further into your profile in detail and provide suggestions on positioning your candidacy!
