At 19 and after taking second at the French national championship, I was selected in the French Junior national team to compete at the European level. Creating the sustainable initiative in my office has ignited in me the desire to focus the rest of my professional career on impact projects, whether they bear an environmental or social aspect. An MBA would be a way to strengthen the skills needed to enter the social impact industry.

Hi Mr. Former SEC Athlete, Impressive athletic background! This is Debbie Choy from mbaMission and GSB alum. I like your achievements in sports, as well as your passion for sustainability. As you put your apps together, be sure to articulate why you’re interested in this field, and how you’re leading and organizing the sustainable impact initiative at your office and through the pro bono consulting projects. And since the social impact industry is quite broad, which specific area do you foresee yourself making an impact in? GSB is looking for “big thinkers” who want to lead change. That said, your GMAT score could be a concern as it is quite below the average at the GSB (which is around 730). If possible, I suggest retaking the GMAT to try to get it as close as you can to the average. If you find yourself hitting a ceiling with the GMAT, do look into the GRE. The study material is the same, but some candidates find the test format more suited to their test-taking style. Also, do consider waiting another year to apply, so that you can amass more work experience under your belt. Finally, as you already have a Master in International Management, be sure to articulate in your apps what specific skills you are seeking to learn at business school that you didn’t learn at Bocconi. If you wish to discuss your profile in further detail, feel free to schedule a consultation with us. Wishing you the best in your MBA journey!
