So the biggest issue here is your age. At 35, you’re definitely outside the window of most traditional MBA applicants to full-time, residential programs. INSEAD does take candidates a bit older but by that I mean more like 28 to 30 than 26 to 28. That doesn’t necessarily disqualify you, of course, because there are 35-year-olds who get into elite MBA programs. You have the stats with a 730 GMAT score and your 3.2 won’t hold you back because of the vast amount of excellent experience you would bring to the classroom. It will all come down to whether there are other younger people in the pool with similar or better stats and jobs with records of accomplishment. One other missing ingredient is exposure to …

That doesn’t necessarily disqualify you, of course, because there are 35-year-olds who get into elite MBA programs. It will all come down to whether there are other younger people in the pool with similar or better stats and jobs with records of accomplishment. One other missing ingredient is exposure to and an interest in global business. INSEAD very much wants internationally-minded students. There’s no indication in your profile that you have worked outside of India. You also present with a fair bit of jargon and acronyms that you need to strip from your application, your essays and your interview, if you get one. You need to remember that the person reading your app will have no idea what 73 GWs of power generating capacity or what a complete O&M of a small hydro plant is. I do but don’t assume an admissions official does. Given your age and these concerns, I think your chances of admission at INSEAD at not much better than 20% so I would urge you to consider a few other schools as well.
