Having 2.5 years of work experience at a small hedge fund, I currently do more coding/back-testing compared to when I started, my role was more of a fundamental analysis of companies/industry. I want to transition from public markets investing to banking and ultimately, private markets.

In your apps, be sure to articulate why you are seeking an MBA. What specific skills and knowledge are you seeking at Wharton that will help you achieve your long-term goal of impact finance / investing? All that said, I do think you are still early in your career. …

All that said, I do think you are still early in your career. Why not consider waiting another year to accumulate more experience under your belt? Business schools prefer candidates with sufficient work experience to contribute to classroom discussions. My estimate of your odds are based on your current work experience, but if you wait another year or two to apply, your chances will also improve.
