Hi Impact Investor, this is Deepak Punwani from MBA Exchange. You are as close to a slam dunk kind of a profile at INSEAD as I have seen in a long time. Congrats on great experience and equally solid acads and extra curricular experience. You have a lot going for you and if you execute well, you should have an admit and a real shot at a substantial scholarship at INSEAD. Highlight your leadership (including your work with what looks like the Art of Living Foundation) and international experiences and INSEAD should come calling. Of schools on your list, INSEAD seems best suited for your goals followed by LBS and MIT in that order. The age is a bit of an issue at MIT but …

Execute well and multiple admits should land on your doorstep. Good luck !
Hello Mr. Impact Investor! I’m Krista Nannery, a Senior Consultant with mbaMission. And WOW. What a profile! There’s so much I want to talk to you about! Two or three years ago, I worked with a similar candidate with Gates Foundation ties and she did very well in this process. In my experience, b-schools love ties to the Gates Foundation so please make sure that’s clear and obvious in your application. I also think your international experience will serve you well…not many can say they’ve worked in the countries that you have. Add that switch from “Corporate America” at MasterCard to consulting in financial inclusion and well, you’re just so interesting and unique. There are two things I am worried about: For most schools except for INSEAD, you have more experience than the average. This won’t keep you out per se, but it does mean your “WHY” for an MBA needs to be really clear. Why can’t you do what you want to do without an MBA? Your GPA…you’ve converted it here so my suggestion is to ask each school exactly how you should convert it. (I just want to make sure you’re not underselling your results.) Then, I want you to include any helpful contextual data. Maybe you were in the Top x% of your major or something like that. If there are reasons why your GPA is on the lower end of the spectrum, use the Optional Essay in each application to say why. Last thing…you have Cambridge on the list but not Oxford! Perhaps give it a look. I wish you all the best for this process! Krista
