Your chances at Harvard Business School are pretty darn good. You certainly have the stats and a fascinating and distinctive background to make for a compelling application to HBS. A lot of this will weigh on the story you tell in your essay. You need to use your essay to make clear how different an Asian you are, coming from Australia, making a comeback at a university and finishing up strong, and serving as a Lt. and remote pilot. I would get a third party to read that essay. You can either show it to alums of HBS who have a similar background to yours or hire a consultant on an hourly basis to read and make suggestions on how to best present yourself in …

And, of course, you should be applying to other schools than HBS because as you know the school is highly selective, accepting about 12% of applicants from a highly competitive applicant pool. You need to hedge your bets: Maybe Wharton, Kellogg, Columbia, Yale, and UVA Darden.
