Mr. Lucky Banker, it sounds to me like you worked hard to land your job as an examiner at the FDIC. I bet that had as much to do with your success there than luck. So I am going to assume that your “Sun Belt School” is probably not a feeder to the elite MBA programs that are on your target list. But your 4.0 GPA in finance would have put you at the top of your class so it should make less difference, particularly for such schools as Kellogg, Duke and Darden that tend to view candidates more holistically. Your 730 GMAT is an impressive achievement as well and either above or at the class averages for the schools to which you plan on …

Your 730 GMAT is an impressive achievement as well and either above or at the class averages for the schools to which you plan on applying. I admire your extras as well which tell me you care about others and have great heart. So on paper at least, you are a well qualified applicant by the numbers. You’re still a bit too young with not enough work experience for a top MBA program, however. So if you are applying in this next admissions cycle, I think Kellogg is going to be tough. If you plan on adding to your work experience, gettng a promotion or leaving for a place that would lend more prestige to your resume, that would make a very big difference in your case.
