Hi Mr. Mental Healthcare, Kristen from MBA Prep School here. I really admire your passion for mental health, which is obviously an issue being brought to the forefront now more than ever! You certainly are an academic powerhouse with a dual major and a masters in applied math and stats from JHU. You also have a strong career history with roles at top firms and consistent dedication to volunteerism related to mental health. This makes your story cohesive and your career goal achievable, linking your professional prowess with your personal passion. You also have a strong career history with roles at top firms and consistent dedication to volunteerism related to mental health. This makes your story cohesive and your career goal achievable, linking your professional prowess with your personal passion. Two concerns I do have about your profile as a former admissions officer is your GMAT score and your job changes. From a GMAT perspective, you are a good 20-30 points below the average for all of your target schools. This is going to be a big hurdle to overcome, as you will be competing with candidates who have similar firms on their resumes with higher scores. You will really need to sell the impact you have had professionally, your master’s degree, and your community engagement as differentiators. Speaking of professional impact, I also find that candidates who change jobs after less than 2 years encounter challenges with progression and impact. They may not have been at an org long enough to be promoted or to be entrusted with leading a big project. I’m glad to read you are leading AI product dev at your consultancy, but want to make sure you can highlight multiple professional, quantifiable wins. Your odds will depend on the scope and scale of your professional impact being able to outweigh your GMAT. I’d be happy to offer you a complimentary consultation to chat about how to bring out your strengths in your MBA applications.
