I am pursuing admission to an online MBA program, having been with the same Fortune 50 company since I graduated undergrad in 2018 (Purdue, Finance). My focus is to continue to work for the same organization which has given me great growth opportunities thus far and do not wish to forego years of work experience to enroll in a full-time program.
Planning to enroll in Spring 2023 – I was curious about the sentiment of the board regarding my focus on Online MBA programs thus far (BU, U of I, UMass, and Kelley are my top 4), given my want to continue to work full-time and grow with my organization who has been very receptive of my career goals.

I have almost 4.5 years of work experience but had been given the opportunity to manage up to a team of four as the youngest finance manager on my team, as well as one of the youngest in the organization. I have paved my own way, having come from the east coast and moving to the Midwest without knowing a single individual ahead of enrolling at Purdue.
Continue to learn, grow, and develop as a finance leader within my organization, with the ultimate goal of being an executive.

Interesting to find a question about online programs! The rise of fantastic Edtech platforms are making these much more viable options for people like you who are keen to retain their existing role and career trajectory. I’m old-fashioned enough to think that there is still great value to being on campus at least some of the time and Kelley, for one, has excellent options for this to make sure you still achieve the networking and connections you need. You are quite early in your career to be fully wedded to one company, so I think you just need to be very sure that you want to stay with the same organization for at least the next 5 years or so; otherwise, I’d be encouraging you …

You are quite early in your career to be fully wedded to one company, so I think you just need to be very sure that you want to stay with the same organization for at least the next 5 years or so; otherwise, I’d be encouraging you to think about a FT option which would give you the opportunity to at least explore different career paths and opportunities in more depth. In terms of admissions, your GPA from Purdue is strong, you aren’t an employment risk, and you appear to have managed your leadership track so far well, so I’d say with a good application and a strong interview performance your chances should be pretty good.
