It sounds like you’ve had some good impact as a finance officer AND won the hearts of your fiancee and your peers – great to see! Given your current role and your undergrad background in finance, your goal of transitioning to finance in the civilian sector are logical. Since PE firms typically seek prior investment banking or PE experience, I think investment banking is a suitable post-MBA goal – then, in the longer term, you could transition to PE (or alternatively, go down the path of asset management).
