Hi Mr. Sales Manager, this is Julie-Anne Heafey from mbaMission. I like the fact that you are an engineer who has made a transition to sales…that’s a surprise! I agree that showing the how and why of this transition would help you distinguish yourself in the process. I also like that you are working in a F500 CPG company…schools do like to have representation from big consumer names, so depending on your company and the scope of your role, your experience could prove valuable in the classroom. I’m assuming your 3 is a conversion from a 75% from your undergrad, which strikes me as a typical performance from an Indian applicant in a tough engineering major, but of course the details matter… …

When you write your resume, make sure it highlights your impact, leadership and teamwork in your professional roles (and doesn’t devote too much space to undergrad accomplishments – a few well-described stellar activities/achievements = good, but don’t add everything under the sun and remember they want to know much more about what you’ve done post-graduation). Good luck!
Hey Mr. Sales Manager, I’m Lisa Cummings of Stratus Admissions. You made an interesting segue from engineering to sales, what was the impetus behind that? As you probably know you are coming from a tough demographic for US based schools but you seem to have good work experience. While your GMAT is in Fuqua’s range, your GPA is just outside their 80% range which won’t necessarily be a dealbreaker. But, for NUS you should have a better shot. For any school, you will want to work hard to craft your narrative to make your experience to date really compelling. Given your big win, I can imagine that might not be too hard for you to do. I’d like to learn more about your extracurricular activity beyond college, what groups and communities are you a part of now outside of work? Have you considered expanding your list? What about UNC, Emory or Cornell? Internationally HEC or INSEAD? Good luck.
