Want to specifically join a telecommunications startup as a technical lead/decision-maker. I want to decide what technology we develop and why. Long term goal is my own startup in the telecommunications space to help make the internet as easily available as possible.

    I admire your honesty. Your D grade in one course has me gasping as well. But it was an engineering class and we know those are not easy. And you did earn your degree at a world class university in the field. Your solid GRE score may help to offset that below-average transcript for HBS but then you work for a startup with just 30 employees. It helps that it was bankrolled by a “well-known entrepreneur” who will write one of your recs. Being a varsity athlete and a fairly successful one at that is a big and positive deal in your profile.
