Hi Mr. Sustainable Designer, this is Kristen from MBA Prep School. As a former MIT adcom, I wanted to share my feedback on your MBA Watch profile. I think your interest in the intersection of sustainability and innovation aligns really nicely with what MIT Sloan is all about. That being said, your profile leaves me with a lot of questions. It seems like perhaps you have job-hopped a few times since completing undergrad, and you also don’t have a GMAT score yet. Additionally, your “big life wins” don’t mention anything about your professional successes or impact. What exactly do you do in the retail sector? What have been some of your greatest accomplishments at work? Lastly, your career goal needs to be more specific. …
What do you mean when you say you want to create your own job? What would a role look like that combines your interest? You’ll also want to make sure that your sustainability interest comes through in your cover letter (perhaps there has been a project in retail that involved sustainability that you worked on). It’s difficult for me to really assess your odds given the limited information, so I am keeping my rating conservative for now. I’d be happy to offer you a complimentary consultation where we could talk through more of the details!
