Hi Ms. Hail Mary, this is Kate Richardson, Senior Admissions Consultant. I always like a good underdog story, so I was drawn to your profile name. I do think on paper your odds would be quite tough at Kellogg, especially considering your low GPA and your relatively higher amount of work experience. But you’ve got impressive work accomplishments in an area of impact, a strong personal story of being a first generation college student, and an impressive track record of giving back in education. Assuming you applied in the rolling round at Kellogg, I believe they are inviting a select group of applicants for interviews (not doing open interviews as they typically do), so that bodes well for your odds. Good luck!

Congrats Ms. Hail Mary on the Kellogg interview invite! Given your years of work experience, can I assume you are looking at the executive MBA? Or perhaps one of the late rounds for the regular program? Either way, given your interesting and unusual track record, I imagine you will have rich stories to talk about in your interview. Your stats and profile are unusual for an MBA candidate- use that to your advantage! Since you only list one job but mention other companies in your blurb, make sure you are able to smoothly walk the interviewer through your career path so they can see the logic of your moves. Given that your grant has run out, are you still working now? …
