Dear,

Congratulations on being invited to interview as the next stage in your application for the Wharton MBA. You have successfully registered for an interview slot at the time and location mentioned below:

As you know, there will be two components to your interview process: first you will participate in a Team-Based Discussion with several of your fellow applicants and then you will have a one-on-one interview with a member of our Admissions team.

Team-Based Discussion

The Team-Based Discussion will be approximately 45 minutes in length and an opportunity to interact with fellow applicants in a lively and thoughtful discussion about an important, real-world business issue. Our hope is that through a team-based discussion, our applicants will not only be able to present how they approach and think about certain challenges and opportunities, but that you will also have a chance to experience, firsthand, the team work and learning dynamic that is central to the Wharton MBA program.

For this discussion, we would like you to imagine that the Dean and Vice Deans of The Wharton School have posed the two questions below to your team and would like you to report back to them with your recommendations. Please bring your thoughts on the two questions below to your session:

  • The Wharton School is committed to supporting our stakeholders as they acquire and refine the knowledge and skills they need to be successful professionally. As potential Wharton students, what isĀ oneĀ key business skill that you think post-business school professionals must have in order to be successful, long-term, in their career?
  • The Wharton School’s mission is to enhance economic and social good around the world by turning knowledge into action and impact. What isĀ the most importantĀ societal challenge that could be addressed more effectively by the business community today?

Come prepared to share, with your team, your individual thoughts on both of these questions inĀ one minute. We will provide you with further guidance on next steps for this activity when we meet.Ā You should plan to spend no more than one hour per question in preparation for the Team-Based Discussion.

One-on-One Interview

The one-on-one component will be 10-15 minutes in length and an opportunity for you to further converse with a member of the Admissions team regarding your candidacy. While we will have questions for you during this time, we also realize that there are specific aspects that you wish to highlight, such as your reflections on the Team-Based Discussion, aspects of your candidacy that you feel are of particular importance, or updates on your professional or personal endeavors. This time will also allow for you to ask any questions that you may have regarding the program or next steps in the process.

Confidentiality

As a reminder, the Wharton MBA application process is confidential and not to be discussed or shared with members outside of the Admissions team. To maintain the integrity of our process, as well as respect for your fellow applicants, please refrain from discussing the specifics or specific individuals from your experiences in this next phase of the process.

If you have any questions regarding the next steps of your application process or any other aspect of the admissions process, please contact Wharton MBA Admissions atĀ mbainterview@wharton.upenn.edu.

Remember that the key is to relax, be genuine, and enjoy the opportunity for us to get to know you and you to get to know each other. We look forward to seeing you soon and getting to know you in person.

Sincerely,
