New B-School Program Focuses On Conscious Leadership And Sustainability

Imperial College Business School is launching a new executive education program focusing on sustainability in leadership.

Starting in February 2022, the Sustainability Leadership Executive Education Program will cater to middle and senior level leaders who are responsible for leading sustainability initiatives in their organizations. The program’s curriculum focuses on equipping business leaders and decision makers with the crucial skills, knowledge, and capabilities needed to empower their organizations to meet global climate change goals.

“Businesses across all sectors and geographies are realizing the need to win the competitive challenge by innovating at a fundamental level the way they create value,” Maurizio Zollo, Professor of Strategy and Sustainability at Imperial College Business School and scientific director of the Leonardo Centre on Business for Society, says in a press release. “Doing this successfully requires the vision, the insight and the courage to undertake unprecedented transformational change initiatives. This program is designed to nurture both competence and mindset required to identify and seize the strategic opportunities before them.”

CONSCIOUS, ACTIONABLE LEADERSHIP

The new program will take place over the course of 13 weeks next year with opportunities for students to learn directly from a global team of over 40 leading thinkers with a wide range of expertise—from strategy to environmental science.

The curriculum, delivered in partnership with global online education provider Emeritus, combines cutting-edge scientific knowledge with business insights and is designed to help leaders identify and develop key strategies to transform their organizations. The course content will also leverage the latest research from school’s Leonardo Research Centre, as well as a dozen of Imperial College’s research centers. Another core component of the program focuses on self-reflection. As part of an optional meditation track, students will study the latest neuroscience research on meditation and deep reflection to improve their social and environmental consciousness.

“This program helps leaders answer the questions: ‘How do I lead and run a sustainable business? How do I develop a corporate culture that delivers on social responsibility and other goals?’ Never has this question been so urgent nor so difficult to answer,” David Brown, Director of Executive Education at Imperial College Business School, says. “We are delighted to launch a program that combines Imperial’s capabilities in science, technology and business with industry expertise and some of the world’s most foremost thinkers and doers in this subject. Participants will develop leading insights and practical skills which will enable them to make a significant difference at speed. And we need that – right now.”
