Fun Fact About Yourself: My entire life has revolved around music and food. Growing up, I was singing 24/7 and you could not find me without my guitar in hand. I grew up in a musical household, as my dad is a talented classical pianist, and I would sing Broadway and Disney next to him at the piano – and still do to this day. It is no wonder I ended up majoring in Music (Vocal Performance) during undergrad at Emory and working in the music industry for four years right out of college. In addition to my passion for music, my family loves to travel and my dad would plan every vacation around food. I grew up eating everything, my favorite food being sushi. I have also had the privilege of traveling to over 26 countries all around the world, trying different cuisines and experiencing different cultures.

What has been your favorite part of Atlanta so far? What has made it such a great place to earn an MBA? It is crazy how time has flown. My undergrad at Emory brought me down to Atlanta eight years ago, and I have stayed in Atlanta ever since. What has really drawn me to Atlanta is its lively culture, which is reflected in the people I’ve met, the places I’ve been, and the opportunities I’ve experienced. Atlanta has grown substantially in the past two decades and has connected an international community of talented and vibrant individuals and families (even my family moved from Connecticut to Atlanta after I graduated from my undergrad). Within Atlanta there is an abundance of continually growing culture – entertainment, art, food, and community. As you expand outside of Atlanta, Atlanta is placed safely, protected from hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, and many other natural disasters. It is also at the center of a dynamic offering of experiences from beautiful hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, and outdoor recreational activities, it is in close proximity to other major cities, and you have ability to travel anywhere in the world, as Atlanta is home to the busiest airport in the world (ACI, 2022).

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of the Scheller MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? The Scheller MBA is a STEM-accredited and globally recognized hub for technology and innovation. It offers me the opportunity to collaborate with world-class faculty and exceptionally bright and diverse students who are actively discovering impactful solutions in every industry ranging from Life Sciences to Technology. As I position myself to grow professionally into my next career, Scheller offers an abundance of resources, a diverse and impressive network, and a thoughtful school-life balance that I am looking for to be a well-rounded and well-prepared leader when I graduate.

What course, club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Georgia Tech? A challenging, but extremely beneficial aspect of my MBA experience at Georgia Tech is the team-oriented core curriculum that every Full-Time MBA enrolls in during our first semester. We get to explore various business functions ranging from accounting and marketing to analytics and strategy. This gives us a solid business foundation and allows us to explore career trajectories that differ from our past work experiences. Exploring so many different functions at an accelerated pace is challenging, but we are thoughtfully paired into diverse teams of four to five other first-year MBAs that work together to succeed in our courses, our career searches, and many other parts of MBA life. The supportive and warm community that Scheller creates is critical to why my MBA experience has been so fantastic.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: It was an amazing experience working in the music industry for the past four years, and I am most proud that I was a part of several incredible artists’ careers. One of the first projects I worked on was for a recording artist named “Latto”, previously known as “Mulatto”, and that project went Gold two years into my career – and then Platinum shortly after. It was an honor and privilege to be a leader on the team that has worked with Latto, Saucy Santana, Gunna, Trinidad Cardona, Ann Marie, Baby Tate, and several other incredible Urban artists out of Atlanta.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? Reflecting on these past three months, my biggest accomplishment is my involvement. During my short time at Scheller, not only have I been engaged in my classes, but I joined several clubs – including Operations Club as a First-Year Representative, Business Analytics Club, Tech Club, and Marketing Club. I have also received a scholarship as a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia Tech’s VentureLab, an innovation incubator that has launched hundreds of successful start-ups since 2004. I have even ventured outside of the business school to stay engaged in my passion for music and auditioned for and joined the Chamber Choir, Georgia Tech’s premiere mixed vocal ensemble.

What has been your best memory as an MBA so far? My best memory as an MBA so far is the plethora of social events that our various committees and clubs have organized. It is hard to pick from the spirited Georgia Tech tailgates and football games, karaoke nights, Schellerween (our annual Halloween party), Scheller Sidesgiving (our annual Thanksgiving potluck), Trunk-or-Treat (Philanthropy Halloween event for homeless women and children), and so many more unforgettable experiences.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Georgia Tech Scheller’s MBA program? I really believe the Scheller MBA program is unique compared to the many other incredible MBA programs in the world, as we are a smaller tight-knit community. We have the opportunity to interact and become close to practically everybody in the community. This allows us to meet very successful and intelligent professionals from practically every industry and create our own unique culture and community based on the interests and personalities within each cohort.

The bottom-line when applying to Scheller is to be nice and to be authentic. Yes, Scheller is looking for driven, hard-working, and intelligent candidates, but your experiences and recommendations will speak for themselves. I believe that an integral factor to being a part of Scheller is how you can fit into and contribute to our warm and collaborative culture. That may not be important to everyone, and there are certainly programs that do not emphasize culture as much. However, I chose Scheller because I felt like I would be supported and challenged by a diverse and talented community of students, faculty, and staff who are passionate about “improving the human condition”, which is part of the Georgia Tech Mission Statement.
