The Gies College of Business at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is committed to providing students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the ever-changing world of business. Here are three highlights of Gies’ recent achievements in innovation and excellence:

  1. Steven S. Wymer Hall: Coming 2025

Gies is partnering with the University of Illinois to build a state-of-the-art facility called Steven S. Wymer Hall. Scheduled to open in 2025, this hybrid educational facility will provide students with a variety of learning environments, including collaboration spaces, traditional and flexible classrooms, informal learning environments, content creation studios, and academic offices. This new facility will provide students with the resources they need to prepare for the future of work.

  1. 43% New Faculty Growth Since 2015

Gies has seen a significant increase in its faculty size since 2015, with a 43% growth in the number of professors. This growth is part of the college’s commitment to excellence in research and scholarship. Gies has recruited some of the world’s top faculty, including renowned scholars like Professor Willie Ocasio and Professor Melissa Graebner. In addition to these high-profile hires, Gies has also brought in dozens of “specialized faculty” with extensive industry experience to share their knowledge with the next generation of business leaders.

  1. Teaching with AI

Gies is at the forefront of using artificial intelligence (AI) in education. The school is not only teaching students how to use AI but is also helping them understand its potential impact on the future of business. In Professor Robert Brunner’s course, students use AI as part of their assessments, gaining firsthand experience with the technology’s capabilities and limitations. Other professors are also incorporating AI into their classes, such as using chatbots to provide students with feedback on their assignments. Gies’ innovative approach to AI education has been recognized by various organizations, solidifying their position as a leader in this field.

These are just a few examples of how Gies College of Business is providing students with the best possible education. With its commitment to innovation, excellence, and faculty growth, Gies is well-positioned to prepare its students for success in the 21st Century.
