Meet The Michigan Ross MBA Class Of 2026

Michigan Ross

P&Q: What types of support does your career center and alumni provide to MBA students? How have these services and relationship made your graduates more competitive in the marketplace?

Ganderson: “Career preparation at Ross is designed to prepare students to navigate their careers for life in addition to their first post-MBA job. The career preparation begins soon after an admitted student commits to Ross by participating in an interactive online course to fine-tune one’s interests, values, and focus. This is done through assessments, one-on-one coaching, workshops, and alumni panels. Before students come to campus or start classes, they have a really good first draft of their resume, which reduces stress at the beginning of the term.

During orientation, the Career Development Office (CDO) hosts a Career Action Day, where students get to know the CDO team better, practice networking, and better understand what recruiters are looking for and how to stand out in the recruiting process. Once school starts, in addition to one-on-one coaching and workshops, Michigan Ross’ stand-out offering is its Functional Accountability Career Teams, or FACT groups. FACT groups meet weekly as a group of five to seven students led by a CDO peer coach and under the direction of one of the staff coaches. These groups guide MBA1s through recruiting for a specific function like consulting, tech product manager, investment banker, or brand manager.

Even though there are similarities with recruiting, there are also a lot of differences by function, so having these weekly groups allows Ross to help students fine-tune those nuances. FACT groups also function as great support groups. In addition to coaching and education, CDO has an employer relations team dedicated to developing and maintaining relationships with hundreds of corporate partners who want to hire Ross talent. By offering expert coaches, peer coaches, professional clubs, and the employer relations team, Ross provides a first-class support system no matter the career path a student is following.”
