Description: Thinking about becoming a manager? It is a bigger step than you might expect. Suddenly, you’re coaching and evaluating people who may have been your friends. You’re serving as a buffer between upper management and your reports – battling to maximize output while keeping expectations in line. You are under the microscope. What’s more, you’re being held accountable for the performance of other people. In this introductory course, you’ll learn the differences between being a manager and a leader; the strengths and weaknesses of various management philosophies and leadership styles; the biggest challenges facing new managers; and how to use influence with both your reports and superiors.  The course will taught through 8-12 minute lecture videos, with students evaluated through quizzes.
